Ok. So, been printing for a couple months now. Got some things understood, got some things to learn.
So, I’m struggling with overhanging parts… and I think instead of improving, I’m doing worse each time and giving myself the yips…
So, trying to brute force this on the stock Textured plate. I’d point to a model or two, or but i dont think is really model specific, as the problem area, is more fixed to this position thats just left of the “center” of the hotplate… For example, the right arm of a Perry the Platipus, or the right wing of this “celestial” angel I tried today…
What im really experience i think is nozzle drag on the print… Now, I’ve tried Z-Axis hopping, turning of cooling for layers, and plenty of other suggestions that I honestly think made things worse…
One thing I think improved my success rate is the purchase of a Sky enclosure. I think my room gets colder then rest of the house, and I think the enclosure eliminated any draft issue I could have been having. Also seeing better plate adhesion.
So… Layer by layer, we print some support and actual “finish product” that must be expanding while cooling, because around layer 500 of a .20 Standard settings print, I’m hearing the sound of nozzle colliding with thin plastic, and any little bits that are being deposited on top of supports are getting knocked over or off entirely.
I’ve also recently learned of the 50% speed control, and I’ve kind of been printing everything like that because I fear “wobbling” supports.
So instead of “adjust this setting,” I think we need to have a more higher level discussion on what is going on here…
Thoughts/questions I have. Is there ideal “room temperature” I should maintain in the enclosure? Lets not talk humidity, I don’t even print if my little sensor reads more than 30%, and I’ve been drying as directed by the labels. I think my sensor inside the enclosure has basically been less than 25% since I assembled it. And I’m not afraid of more little silica traps…
Is this a FlowRate/FlowDynamics issue? I have tried calibrating everything twice over, and I kind of feel the “default” settings for Bambu Labs PLA basic are just as good if not more consistent than the funny settings I set up with this filament (I delete any of that when I switch filaments). Can any recommend a proper “test” model that a NewB like me might be able to make some sense of.
So other than glue, dry my filament, and fiddle with retraction/z hop settings, what else can I really do to prevent the material from blowing up in the Z axis direction?
