Letters that lean on the perpendicular

Trying to do this without resorting to CAD. I would like to put raised letters on a cube, let’s say 100x100x2mm. The difficult part is to have them get smaller as they go up. Basically, it’s a stencil for concrete. The first time I did it, it worked ok, but the stencil was hard to get out and chipped some of the detail. If the top (becomes the bottom when put into the concrete) is slightly narrower, it should pop right out (right, right? right!!!).

A simple 3mf file and picture can be found at this link. I’ve pasted the picture below. The red lines are what I would like the text to do. Instead of the totally perpindicular “walls” I want them to come inward. Pardon my poor drawing skills.

To get proper draft angles you’re going to need to do it in CAD.

That’s what I though. Was hoping someone had a magic solution.

If it helps it’s normally very simple is most cad systems. Often a simple check box and angle input to add draft angles to an extrusion.

No need for CAD if you can use a mesh editing program.

View ir sideways, turn on x-ray, grab the top layer only, and then hit resize.

Blender for sure can do it, but their UI is dumb. However there are a huge number of guides since it’s massively used even professionally.

I can do this in Freecad. The font I would like to use is a script font. That’s being tricky.

Just pad the text with the angle you want. The font is irrelevant.

I tried both freecad and blender.

Freecad: This works to Pad a shape and set the Taper Angle. However, when using a font that is not block (script or “old english” style) it ends up with a message “end of extrusion face is empty.” I even tried it with a block font like Times.

Blender: Got closer with this. The challenge is all of the changes I could make skewed in one direction, think makes the font italics.

The closest I found was to use Blender, insert the text and then Bevel - Round - .02m. This may work/help with pulling the stencil out of the concrete.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

set the center of the resizing transformation to the center of the item, and be prepared to have do letters individually

i dont 100% remember what blender calls those things

they do also have some fancy deformation tools that could do it, but i can’t tell you how

any blender forum should be able to help; it is a simple task
