Limiting Bed Movement?

Is there any way to ask the slicer to favour left-right movements over back-forth ones when arranging the printing odder for objects. I’ve had a tall thin item to print fail, both near the end, third time was find after adding copious extra manual supports (I didn’t try slowing everything down, that would have been next on my list), but watching it print I was struck by something that might help which the slicer could do:

When doing each layer it was tending to work back & forth then left to right, so generally making bigger bed movements than head movements. Is there any way to ask the slicer to prefer the opposite way round to this? Obviously it could only take this as a hint as some designs won’t lend themselves to this, in fact so parts of designs that do won’t, but it seems to me that optimising for minimal bed movement when using a slinger (I’m using an A1) could be a useful print reliability tweak.
