Load Filament and then Start Drying

I feel there’s a little glitch in the current firmware of the P2S regarding Filament Drying.

The with latest firmware, 01.02, and an AMS 2 Pro, and the external power supply, I can start drying and then start a print.

However, if I were to “Load” the filament first, I cannot start drying. I get the message “Unable to dry temporarily due to fileament in AMS outlet.”

The end result is the same… printing and drying at the same time… and it works.

I also tried to manually Unload the filament and got the message “The AMS is drying and cannot perform this operation at the moment.”

But, I should be able to manually Load the filement, start the Drying Process, and then print.

And, while drying is going on, and no printing, I should be able to manually Unload the filament.

Anyone else come across this?

But you mean manually unload as in removing it and leaving the spool rotate free? (because in that case the AMS has no way to know there is filament, so drying should work right?)

I differenciate between auto loading and manual loading. Auto loading is when filament is in the AMS, inserted, and ready to go. It’s not at the nozzle yet, but recognized by the AMS. I start a print and the system loads the filmanet to the nozzle. Manual loading is when the filament is in the same state in the AMS, but I tell the system to Load the filament via Bambu Studio.

When I use the Load button in Bambu Studio, and the filement is then loaded to the nozzle, I cannot start a drying process.

But, when the filament is ready to go, not loaded to the nozzle, I can start a Drying process, and then I can start a print process. So the filament is fully loaded to the nozzle and drying is happening.

If the filament in the AMS is “pre-loaded” (recognized and ready to go) I can start a drying process. But, if the drying process is going, I cannot go into Bambu Studio, to the Device page, and click Load for the filament to load to the nozzle. I get the message “The AMS is drying and cannot perform this operation at the moment.”.

There is a tiny disconnect here in the logic of drying and loading filament.

all that text is “load button must be enabled when drying”?

I did a while ago on a certain Bambu Studios version. It has gone away, but I am on the Beta track so I can’t recommend a specific (stable) version.

Unsure about the pre-release timing, but the latest stable release is where Drying and Printing can happen at the same time.

While drying, I can start a print job, which will Load the filament to the nozzle, finish the print job and Unload the filament back to the AMS.

But, while drying, when I click the Load or Unload button in the device tab, I get an error message that the printing is busy drying.

This is a little disconnect in the firmware.
