Perhaps a function could be added that allows us to mute models.
The model images should be displayed, along with the ratings and comments, as well as the counters for likes, downloads, etc. The print profiles and the description of the model should not be displayed. An alternative information text should be displayed instead of the model description, which the designers of the models can define themselves. However, a standard text specified by MW is also fine.
No new ratings or new comments should then be possible and no new downloads.
Then we wouldn’t have to remove the models straight away. This allows us to reactivate the models later. Unfortunately, making the models invisible makes them inaccessible to users via a link, which is confusing for them.
What is the “true” intention behind this? @SnaKKo
You could mute a model if you are not sure whether you want it to remain public. If you notice a problem with it and would like to change it. Or are unsure about the future of the model?
So I have several reasons why I’ve been “mucking out” my models recently. And because I can’t mute them, I can only set them to “Private” and they will no longer be accessible from outside. Not even via a direct link. If you have shared your model several times via link, this link apparently goes to a 404 page. I don’t know exactly. I do exactly that. A day or two later I got news from my follwers that the model was unavailable. Which leads to speculation.
So overall it increases user-friendliness. What’s wrong with that? Not a good suggestion?
But I have another suggestion. If a model has been removed, you should be able to leave a text as a designer so that users don’t end up on a 404 page. I think that if we make the models available to Makerworld free of charge, there should be such an option. I’ve been missing that for a long time. Also because the 404 pages are not particularly popular with all users. It would also be good because the links could remain on the platforms where we shared them. It is desirable that we link externally to Makerworld.
By the way: This won’t help me now if I’m planning something really bad with it. Because the changes take far too long. I’d rather go and change my posts on the platforms.
I still want to answer the question of why I think about my models.
One reason is that some of my models have been invisible for months. They had 1 or 2 downloads. I published the models elsewhere and got about a dozen downloads in a week or two. I then published one of them elsewhere under a CC0 licence.
