I’m printing a small cooler. Just a rectangular shell. When I tell the slicer I’ll be using a 0.4 nozzle with the 0.24mm standard height settings, it estimates 12h21m with 847 layers. When I preview the same part using a 0.8mm nozzle with the 0.4mm standard height settings, i’m getting an estimated time of 16h30m. The only settings I change in both are infill down to 5% and a gyroid pattern. Am I doing something wrong? I thought the 0.8mm nozzle should cut time significantly, not increase it. Thanks for any help!
something like this happed to my dad, he hypothesized it was because the printer couldn’t heat up the plastic enough, causing it to print slower.
compare the max volumetric flow of your 0.4mm nozzle filament in the slicer to the max volumetric flow of your 0.8mm nozzle filament in the slicer
Also consider that 1 wall of this is the size of 2 walls of that, so your profiles choices might make the final object push a ton more plastic than a finer tip would, check the final weights.
