Greetings! I am trying to find a filament that looks like shiny brass when it’s finished printing. I’ve tried the silk gold but it just looks cheap. I’ve tried the metallic iridium gold, but it’s just grey, not gold at all. I’ve tried the sparkle gold but that just looks like … the cheap silk gold with sparkles in it.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Search Amazon for 3D filament in brass. There’s a few brands available although I have never used them.
I was looking for Bronze or brass a few months. I ended up settling on an Elegoo copper because the photo looked closer to the color I wanted. See above for an example print, it is neither copper, brass or bronze but is was what the Chinese say “Chabuduo” (差不多).

Here’s the sol-called “copper” photo that I thought is what I was getting.
Between Elegoo, Polymaker, Deeplee, Sunlu and eSun, they all look the same in the photos so it’s a crapshoot until you buy a spool and try it for yourself.
Yeah, that’s what I’ve been figuring. BTW, if You’re comparing the colour to pennies to try to find Brass or even Bronze, that’s not going to work. That’s Copper.

But the copper is gorgeous when printing.
Actually, that was exactly what I was trying to do. The filament was labeled copper, and I included the pennies to show how far Elegoo deviates from even a basic visual expectation of copper - they weren’t even close. As I mentioned, presumably their idea bronze would be similarly distorted.
I included the paper money and a pencil for scale and added color as visual reference points. This wasn’t intended as true calibration, but rather to give viewers multiple familiar objects for visual comparison across their own displays. While this is not color-managed or CIE-grade in any sense, it’s sufficient for subjective judgment.
The Amazon photo was included to illustrate how heavily processed or “doctored” the product imagery appears to be. Color consistency has been an ongoing problem in the filament industry, discussed here across many threads. Even Bambu’s color coding hex values have come under fire here in this forum as being woefully inaccurate. One member reported that they ordered several spools of white PLA and there was a marked shift in color within their order. It’s not just Bambu but it shows that the filament industry while claiming high quality control deviates far from their claims. I mean if they can’t even get white consistent over a single 10 spool order, what hope do we have for some of the more exotic colors.
One of my students came into class the other day with one of his 3D prints. When I asked him what filament he said it was from Hobby Lobby! Don’t know if you have those stores up in the Great White North but, if you do, maybe check them out. Or any hobby store.
I’m thinking it’s about time for box stores other than Best Buy to start getting in on the filament supply. They can make a lot of money if they do!

I’ve had good luck with Sunlu PLA - gold, bronze, silver. They have been the closest to the real thing from my view.
Also, I find the color shown rarely fully matches once printed. The editing in advertising plays a role but it’s always best to buy a few variations and see what you like best. A good starting point is to find the closest you like visually but expect a variation once it’s printed.
Ahhhh, I was confused because you were talking about brass colour and showing copper. I should have figured that out. My bad.
I think someone already suggested this and I am indeed giving it a try. Should show up in a few days.
I once looked for brass (bright yellowish gold) too and couldn’t find it from any vendor. I forgot to make a suggestion to BL though. So I will do it here: @BambuLab @SupportAssistant Consider addding brass to your filament choices.
