Does anyone know what would cause such a weird result under the temp tower test print levels? I’ve never seen something like this before.
That’s a main part of the test, bridging. That filament is not bridging well at those temps. Need info like filament type, was it dried, has it been calibrated?
Seems like PLA temp range and I would expect better bridges in that area.
I’m using Sunlu PLA Meta. That was supposed to be the tail end of the calibration. I’ve tried all the calibration settings via OrcaSlicer man. All of them, from the Temp tower (2x!) to the max flow rate in the ‘more’ section. I’m completely at a loss. As for filament humidity levels, I live in South East Asia where the humidity is at 80+ on a regular basis, so even with a filament dryer the best I can get is the high 40s.
The bridge is extruding “slack” not “taut”. That’s what the reduce-flow-for-bridges will fix. But it’s happening because you’re over-extruding slightly. Probably because you can’t get the filament really dried out in your environment.
thank you for the information mate. with regards to the over-extrusion and filament drying, is that something that goes together? what i mean is that does wet filament necessitate a shorter extrusion length?
As the filament heats the water boils and forces the filament out of the hot end resulting in excess extrusion.
But knowing this and if you only really have problems with bridges then you can use the setting @RocketSled suggested and if that doesn’t quite do it you could attempt to speed up the bridging in increments in an attempt to remove the sag.
You could also investigate something like @MZip has an air dryer to pump dry air into your filament dryer which might allow you to get your filament closer to the 20% max RH spec.
