Nearly dropped off my chair when I read the reason for a 3-star rating.
“great print would rate a 4-5 but I stoped (sic) it and took it off early”

I feel like this is a Maker World issue honestly. They only allow a max of 3 stars on failed prints and are actively pushing users to review.

Why even rate it then? I really don’t understand some people. It made some since when they gave points for rating, but that ended.

Wait, you’ll find out that not only self-interrupted prints can be reviewed, but also:
- Completely different settings for the print profile
- A completely different item placed on the plate afterwards
- Object rotated into impossible positions
- Cut into thousands of pieces by slicer
- Classic: Completely different filament
- And now the best part: stuff you haven’t even printed, not at all. The file transfer is enough.

because the app generates notifications to the user to do it, and a huge % of the population follows any action that is prompted to them

Exactly, the app still annoys me to this day with its constant requests to rate failed prints.

There needs to be an option to turn those off. On the rare occurrence that a print fails, it is the users fault most of the time.
I just wont even rate it. (Unless there are obvious issues with the profile that can be seen in studio).

The issue to me is that the rating is for the slicer settings, rather than the model.
I have tried to give 4 ratings for products, and they get rejected with a comment along the lines of not relevant. Clearly someone who has posted the model didn’t like my review and are precious about not getting 5.
One example was I gave a rating of 4* for a lightbox with the comment, “Would have been 5* had it not been for lack of the diffuser and the addition of a hole for power feed which was not compatible and could not be altered.” (They hadn’t added the hole as a negative in the slicer, so couldn’t be removed to revert back to solid).
This I believe was a realistic rating for the model, and included feedback and constructive criticism.
Having EVERY single model rated 5 makes the whole thing pointless, exactly the same as if it were rated 1*.
FWIW, To get a rough idea of what I think a model is like I divide the likes (and or comments) by the downloads.

You can appeal a bad rating
And that’s the issue. People have genuine feedback which is just appealed against and then deleted.
Leaving the next poor sap to look “Ooh it’s 5* it must be great”.
I’m much likely to believe an overall rating of 4.8, rather than 5.0

My experience: MakerWorld only removes reviews that are not actually bad, but nonsense that does not comply with the rules. As I said, that is my personal experience. However, in 95% of cases, the authors of negative reviews fail to describe the problem or provide a photo, thereby violating the rules.
Therefore, in my personal opinion, it is not possible to have a well-written review with photos deleted simply because of a poor rating. However, I am sure that there are other experiences as well.
The fundamental problem with negative reviews is often the following: The creator should be supported in resolving the issue. Very rarely, I also write a negative review, but I post photos of the printout and the slicer, as well as a detailed description, and there have never been any problems.
In short: a bad review should serve to solve the problem, not to harm the creator. This is where most people fail.

Some forums actually allow the OP to moderate comments, like You Tube for example.
Sometimes I receive 3 stars with the comment”excellent print but system won’t let me rate more than 3 stars”. Dang why leave a rating ?

Because the app bothers you even when the printing has been canceled or was only partially printed. It literally forces it on you. Aborted print means a maximum of 3 stars allowed. Such ratings almost always come from the app.
