Low Ratings without description

When a reviewer rate a print profile to 3 stars or below, MakerWorld will give some hints like the following.

Please describe specific problems you encounter when printing this Print Profile.
(Dont rate if you think your problem is not caused by this print profile)

  • Support Problem
  • Strength Problem
  • Bed Adhesion Problem
  • Lack of some model parts
  • Others

MakerWorld will allow a user to delete his rating in the next release.
In this case, if the user admits that he did it wrong himself, you may report this rating and we will take it down.

Why is bed adhesion considered a profile problem? Feels like to me its a lot more likely people don’ wash their build plates than a model being placed 2mm above the plate etc. Every single adhesion issue I’ve been rated on is people first of all modifying the profile to use a different plate, but also not cleaning their plates. Your printers are very capable of printing a full volume sheet of PLA without warping, unless we are talking large PACF profiles with 100% infill I have not yet come a cross a single rating of bad adhesion that is not user error.

Could you maybe also add something about people modifying the profile? It feels quite weird you can modify a profile then still rate the old profile you broke by modifying it.

If users select the issue of bed adhesion, the rating dialog may inform them the typical case of bed adhesion problem is usually not caused by print profile.

  • check whether the print bed is clean
  • check whether the build plate is placed properly
  • check whether they have selected the correct build plate type
  • check whether they used different material type, if so, try adding some brim
  • try applying glue on the print bed

If they still encounter such issues, it may be caused by lack of brim or some thing else.

Sounds reasonable, looking forward to the update!

I agree with this suggestion. If the user modifies the profile significantly, like changes plate/material type (not colour) or adds supports when none are on the profile (and the profile states supports aren’t needed). Now that you mentioned it, most of the low reviews are from people who have made changes to the profile and not used it as-is.

Can you tell what someone has changed on your profile when they’ve printed it?

not unless i see a picture. two pictures I saw had added supports when the profile doesn’t use them/doesn’t need them, another picture shows they used a textured hotbed when the profile uses a cool plate.

This is a good step forward

a few of my reviews give no feedback/reason for the low/high rating; it isn’t helping me as a creator to know what people like and don’t like about my models, so I’m just guessing at the moment with designing them.
Is there any chance in the future to have descriptions mandatory for really high or low reviews?

Instead of having stars, could you just have a thumbs up or thumbs down with comments.

A lot of times I look at the number of downloads to see the popularity, because I feel like stars a lot of times could be fake. I also look at the number of comments to see what people have to say about it.

yes, they mentioned really low reviews, but I still would like feedback from really high reviews too.

Its not that uncommon for people to post pictures of the model warping, on a completely different plate shining with finger grease. But its very possible through code, Bambu Lab already does this inadvertently, whenever you change profile settings and try to shut down Bambu Slicer it will ask you if you want to save the changes, the fix is basically just to not let people rate profiles with this flag checked.

Ok forcing people to leave a comment isn’t going to fix this issue it seems. I’ve had a 2 star rating on a profile for a model with a comment along the lines of ā€œok but I prefer another type of designā€ - which is not a comment on printability of the profile nor a comment on the design - just the user’s preference of apples over oranges.

I believe the values comes from the guidelines around the comment. Those mean you can report that rating and have it removed.

Interesting - hadn’t spotted that you can report a rating/comment - do you know where the guidelines are for comments and reporting them - as will give that a try on the ones that aren’t clear enough and for which the original rater has not responded to my requests for clarification.

There are none yet, but with the update @Tanklet is discussing there would be, so right now there is nothing you can do about it, if someone rates you 1* and comments ā€œit didn’t work after I changed the profileā€ or ā€œIt warpedā€, you cant do anything about it. But with @Tanklets update, requiring a detailed comment, that rating would not abide by the detailed comment rule and would therefore be possible to point at the rules when reporting.

I have tried reporting these sort of ratings before without any luck, to the point I’ve just given up. I get a lot more 5* weighing up for all the people changing the profile and giving me 3*. But I hope with updates like this detailing the stuff a bit better, it will be a lot easier to point to the ā€œrulesā€ the rating is breaking.

I mean technically its not that big of a difference, anybody would understand that if someone rates your profile 1* because their changes didn’t work, that rating should be removed since they have nothing to do with the actual profile being rated. But at least to me it sounds like that report weights a lot more when you can really point to ā€œHere’s what you, Bambu Lab, says about rating and what should be rated in a profile, here is what the person rating the profile did which completely contradicts what you said, hes breaking your guidelines, now please removeā€

Hi again, i try to read all arguments and come to the point, that a thumbs up/down system could be better in most cases. Otherwise the platform could be overruled. Cheers

All these ā€œif’s and what if’s, then do thisā€ could be avoided if they changed to only rating the model design. Leave out the ability to rate profiles all together. Leave out the ability to create profiles unless you’re the designer.
People rate the design of the model, how it looks or works, and the profiles are tested by the designer so you should be able to trust they will be reliable. Also, I believe remixes should only be accessed from the original designs page. Just my opinion.
