Mainboard defective? Several problems right at the start

Hello everyone,
I received my H2D combo on Monday. I connected it to my account and calibrated it, so far so good. Then I noticed that the AMS 2 Pro is not recognized by the printer. All slots always flash orange twice. Then there was also an error message “Filament buffer module not working”, but the HMS code [0500-0300-0001-0004 221628] is not in the wiki. In addition, the printer wanted a firmware update, but this always failed immediately [0x00000206].
All these errors occurred before the printer even saw filament.
I then connected my old AMS as a test → same error. Then connected the AMS 2 Pro to my P1S → Immediately recognized. So it’s not the AMS itself.
I removed the back of the printer and checked all the plug connections, but nothing is loose. I also removed a cover on the left inside and checked all the plug connections underneath, but nothing was loose either.
I reset it to factory settings again, but the errors all remained the same.
I tried to start the update directly on the printer, from the Bambu app and from Bambu Studio, but the same error kept occurring. I tried it with a HotSpot from my cell phone (different internet), but the error remains the same.

I am now in contact with support and the first solution suggested was to replace the 4-pin interface board. I pointed out that the board is for the external air pump and therefore can’t really have anything to do with the problems. The next thing I heard was that they wanted to send me a new filament buffer module. However, I objected again that I didn’t think that all the problems were caused by this module and that I rather thought that the Maine board was defective. Now I’m waiting for an answer again.

Do you have any ideas? I’m a bit desperate… I don’t want to send the printer back and then wait ages for a new one. I (unfortunately) bought the 40W laser version.

Do the buffers move freely? Internal ptfe tubes still connected to them? Also, have you tried unplugging the ams with machine off, turn machine on and then plug ams in after its booted up? Or try inserting filament before the orange flash?

Yes, the buffers move freely. Yes, the PTFE tubes are attached. I have also tried everything with the AMS. No matter how I do it, the white wave always appears first and then it switches to the orange double flash.

Hi, I have the excat same Problems. I could do a few print after setting it up. Now the AMS is not recognised despite all LED’s flashing and I too get the “Filament Buffer Module malfunctioning” Error. I already switched the Buffer Module + Cable at my own cost, bit sadly absolutely nothing has changed.
I too think the MC Board may be faulty, but since it is not available as spare part I cannot confirm that.
I’m stuck at that point.

Have you contacted support already? If so, what is their response?

Yes I have. First I was told to Check every connector inside the AMS. Since everything was ok, I was told to measure some resistances between the Connection pins from and to the AMS. These were normal as well.
After that I became a little impatient, so I ordered a buffermodule myself but again without success.
I updated my ticket yesterday but didn’t get a reply since.

Did you try updating just the printer’s firmware with the AMS 2 unplugged?

Is it not letting you update h2d due to a buffer error message?

What firmware version is displayed on the H2D?

Are you able to view or update the AMS 2 firmware version when it’s connected to the P1S?

H2D firmware release history

Hey,

I was able to solve the problem. A wire of a cable on the MC board was torn off. I then soldered the wire back together with the contact. After that, all the problems disappeared and the printer now works perfectly.

Another question: Does it say “Test” on the large outer box? Mine had “Test 004” written on it by hand. I wonder if the printer was perhaps a test object and that’s what happened.

Hi, I have already updated the Firmware to 01.01.01.00 before.
Thanks for your answer

Sady I have already checked all cables an connections on the MC board. And that specific cable you showed is exclusive to the Laser Version, sonce it is not present in my printer.
Thank you for you answer

@user_3325455051 That sucks a lot.
Your problem analysis seems sound, and kudos to you for pushing back on their suggested fixes!
I would have suggested the “AP” board connections on the left side (at the top) but if you’ve reseated all them it should be OK. (Do you know if this is the only “main” board on the system? I haven’t opened anything else up so I’m not sure what other PCBAs there are).

I’ve had a lesser problem with mine (HMS_0500_0100_0002_0001: The media pipeline is malfunctioning), but it still means the unit is not at all usable. Bambu support has at least sent me a new live view camera, but that hasn’t fixed the problem. Now support has gone dark on me and no longer responds to my updates or requests.

I can only offer moral support as I don’t have ay other suggestions, sorry!
