MakerWorld don't count every download

Printables and Thingiverse to name a few.

Really? I didn’t know that…I guess that’s the natural evolution of sites like this…but still we should be given accurate data on our uploads.

printables you need to login… ok it poups need to login;p but downloads anyway .

counts the download though

Yeah, I noticed that we are getting more views and fewer downloads, hopefully they will do something with that or the site will be getting fewer and fewer models and I felt like MakerWorld got really a future as a passive point generator :frowning: Looks like I’ve been wrong.

Update: The weirdest thing is that we even received a boost at the model and the number of downloads didn’t increase (surely someone just gave a boost 4fun, liked, and didn’t check the download) That’s a joke…

I did a test today. Asked my friend who do not own Bambu 3d printer to set up maker world account and download 3 specific models. Even though they were logged in 2 out of 3 downloads did not show for me but show for them. Basically my counter on the model shows 1 download and they see counter showing 2 downloads.

It’s getting better and better

I attempted to replicate your findings by downloading three models via a friend of mine, all 3 downloads registered for both of us.

They explained the reason fairly well on their post and this lines up with where I noticed the drop.

Have you tried to download by logging in or as an anonymous user?

The person could have downloaded it before and liked it a lot, so s/he gave your model a boost. It’s legitimate. If I were you, I would appreciate it

Sure, I appreciate it but I do not appreciate that our downloads are not growing since new changes, I also tried to download some of them through mobile/ anonymous mode in chrome and it didn’t count, even through different device and different wi-fi. It is weird :frowning:

We will try again today. I don’t know what is happening.

Conclusion is one, maker World doesn’t count approx 40-60% of downloads, rules about how they are counted are not clearly described. So I just stopped uploading my new models here , sadly but that is I think the only option at this moment.

If I check the downloads of one of my models, in the points section, it says that I have reached 550 downloads, while on the model page it indicates just over 440. Strange, I can’t understand how it works

that is actually simple, cause prints count as two.

That is, those printed directly from the printer are counted as 2?

no idea how they count if its regular download or download and print, i guess you have link you bambu studio and open in it and print.

A download is logged whenever you download a print profile or the raw files (usually STL). Also, opening the print profile directly in Bambu Studio counts as 1 download. If you download multiple print profiles or repeatedly download one profile, only the initial download is counted. Therefore, there’s a maximum of 1 download per model per user.

A successful print on a Bambu Labs printer results in 2 additional downloads in terms of point rewards. However, only the first print is accounted for. Subsequent prints are not recorded. This follows the same principle as with downloads. To have a print counted, you must initiate it via Bambu Studio or the Bambu Handy app. Third-party slicers like Orca Slicers do not trigger a print, nor do prints when the printer is set to LAN mode.
