MakerWorld Download/Activity counter - "weird" question(s) :-)

Hi. I tried searching, but couldn’t find anything… so I’m asking those with more experience here:

  1. Does MW count downloads of my models even if I download them myself? Or is it somehow controlled via IP, login, etc., so that my downloads of my models are not counted?

  2. And if the answer to the previous question is “Yes, it counts…”, is there any way to reset the Download Counter?

Explanation of why I am asking: I am preparing a model (created in Fusion360) on which I would like to try out the Customize function (for the first time) - generation via Parameters and Fusion. And I assume that I will be testing a lot… that is, many (really many) approaches, parameter changes, checking whether everything works as it should… if not, then fixing it… and repeating the whole process over and over again. That means I’ll be “stuck” on the model page, repeatedly downloading and testing the generated files… but really many times…

… and I don’t want … I repeat, I DON’T WANT… for my activity to be included in the model statistics… I’m not interested in any “points” (although I doubt MW would award them to me), but I want the statistics to be truly realistic… so that when I look at the numbers, it’s immediately clear that “these are user activities” and not the result of my testing…

And yes, I know I can make a model as Private (and I will do that at first) … however, I still don’t know if those activities (visit, Generator) count (?) … I know there are no points for Private models (but that doesn’t bother me). However, even after I change the status to Public, I will definitely continue to access the generator for some time and try it out… and download… and I wouldn’t want this to count towards the statistics…

BTW, it’s not just about downloads, but also about any activity on the model page, use of the generator… I just want ME (as a designer) to be “invisible” to the system and its counters…

Thanks in advance for your experience…

Not a weird question, but a very sensible one.

Coding-wise, it is super easy to exclude any activities done on one’s own models if one logs into their own account. However, so far the only somewhat clear answer I got is that once logging in one can open their own models, edit them, and these activities won’t be counted as views.

If one downloads or prints their own models after logging in, it shouldn’t be counted either. But this has never been clear. The download/print counting rule says that the same user downloading or printing the same model multiple times will only be counted one time. So if that’s true, one’s own download will only count once, and it won’t be too bad.

But the question still is: Why not completely exclude designers’ own downloading and printing from counting? Maybe @MakerWorld can take this opportunity to provide a clear answer?

hello DWd,

i noticed that you are very present in this community here…

im very new to modern technology in any aspekt… realy! thats the first time im in something “socialmedia” like thing… anyway…
and i have 1 short question that is… hm… a little bit offtopic from this here but i cant find anything about it…
my english is also bad as hell but hey…?

the creator center… is there a way to see all of this movements in realtime…? or at least the numbers of real views?

i believed that, when i upload something, it will be allways something like … hmm… a pre joy of what will happening or something… you know what i mean or? hm…
something more like this forum here…
in the settings here, there is written that it will check how much time you spent to a topic or so… so that they can give you allways an update when there is something new to this topic…

that would be so cool… to see the numbers of model visits, and “maybe…!?, but that would be another level of coolness” the time that people spent on a models side/page…

is there anyway a chance to see modelvisits in realtime?

thank you for your time reading my question in english : )
