How can a $40 discount go “out of stock”? I was just about to redeem and buy 5 rolls of filament partially with that discount. I have no need for any of the other items in the points shop. Gift cards are the only reason MakerWorld points are worth the energy. This is baloney!

I had this message once as well, and the next day it was working again, but I read the same post from someone else yesterday, and apparently, there really is a problem if I see it again today.
I would suggest just waiting a day, and then it should work again.
I can’t do anything with the other products in the points shop either!

I believe they have default limits in place to prevent certain types of misuse. Usually some operator fix this promptly. Just try again later.

It is more likely they are truly out of stock.
As strange as it may appear at first, the fact these appear virtual does not mean they do not exist in some way.
They do not operate their own online store, so, the gift cards must be obtained from that store before they are handed out.
I imagine the message is in place for when the number of gift card codes they had already obtained has been issued and they need to fire an API request (hopefully) or a manual request (hopefully not) to purchase more from the third-party store.
You could argue they should have sufficient for an out-of-stock (oos) message to appear, but, modern businesses operate a just in time (JIT) system where holding excess stock is wasteful. BL purchased something the user can hold on to for another 12 months. This means BL has a future obligation to provide goods where the ‘cost’ has been met earlier.

I had the same issue today! I was really excited to redeem the $40 gift card when I reached 490 points. Hopefully they will not take the gift card option away…

I just tried in the U.K. and it worked for me.
I am able to confirm that after redeeming the maximum points allowed each week before I was told I hit that upper limit all went well.
U.K. BST 2:54 am.
