I have a model of ‘drawing ticket’ that has 5 layers that build the main part of the ticket and the last 3 are the writing on the ticket. My AMS is down right now so I can’t use it to change the color and am forced to pause the print to change the color between the body and the letters.
If I slice the model with the external color selected in Studio, I get the entire model, base and letters, printed in that color, as expected. If I put a Pause in at layer 5 (M400 U1 in gcode) then immediately studio adds layer 5 as a whitish color and the letters as white. How do I get rid of this odd layer that is added at the pause layer.

The pause is placed at the beginning of the layer. So you want the pause to be at the beginning of layer 6. The “whitish” layer you are seeing now is the background color showing through layer 5.
Thanks for your reply. To clarify, I am attaching 3 photos. This just prints the entire model in Red, primary color. It does not pause. I have to watch as the print finish layer 5, then pause manually through front panel, then unload/load second filament and continue. Not very efficient.
Not sure there is a fix for this and since I don’t have hundreds of these to print, I’ll suffer through.
You say you want five layers of background, and then 3 layers of white.
But your Pause is on layer 5.The pause is inserted at the beginning of layer 5, before the last of the “main part” of the ticket has been laid down. So when you manually change the filament, from the background color to white, and hit resume, the fifth layer is printed in white, with the background showing through the single layer of white.
Move the Pause to layer 6, so that the background color is still used for layer five. Then after the filament change, only layers 6,7,8 will be white.
