Misleading options when purchasing AMS 2 Pro

A bit embarrassed I missed this, but also frustrated. I bought an AMS 2 Pro for my P1S and chose the power adapter only, thinking the AMS Hub was only needed for multiple AMS units (as stated: “If you plan to connect multiple AMS units…”). The description for the single AMS option says the same thing, which is misleading. Now I’m stuck—the AMS 2 Pro only includes a 6-pin cable that doesn’t fit the P1S. @BambuLab, please clarify your option details better. Now I am SOL and not only have to pay shipping, but also have to buy the hub at regular price. Ticket raised.

You don’t need a hub for a single ams. All you need is the buffer that is already included with the P1S.

The ams connects to the buffer and the buffer connects to the p1s

Edit: correction as noted by Jenkins.

The AMS 1 comes with the buffer

Ams 2 pro does not and neither does the P1s (non combo)!

IIRC the P1S comes w/o the buffer. The buffer comes with the “original” AMS (1). So, yes, the OP does not need to buy the hub. The buffer on the other hand is a must. For more than one AMS(x) you’ll need in addition one 4-in-1-adapter, bought from BL or printed yourself.

Hmm… Their AMS 2 page options are messed up. Option 1: “AMS 2 Pro Upgrade Kit 1 with Filament Buffer”. Yet there is no option to select the buffer, but it does have the AMS Hub. Surely I can’t be the only one who this has messed up?

Correction on my end:

The AMS 1 comes with the buffer

Ams 2 pro does not and neither does the P1s (non combo)!

You would either need to buy the buffer standalone or get the upgrade kit with the buffer (that includes the power supply)

You don’t need the hub. You can use the Buffer and get the much cheaper 4-in-1 PTFE adapter. Gets you the same result as the hub but cheaper

Surely not. But that doesn’t help. You may find a buffer on eBay or the like 'cause one rarely needs more than 1 buffer if he bought 4 AMS1. One as spare, may be.

See my prior reply. Their options do not offer the buffer. Hence my issue on it being misleading. Thanks for the info though.

I assume they didn’t expect too many people with “older” P1x to buy the AMS2 - or they have too much hubs on stock. Whatever: get a buffer and enjoy multi-spool-printing.

Yes… and the options are only (as I noted earlier, no buffer) CA store:

…anyway, all good. I’ve contacted support. I don’t mind paying for it, but they should fix this.

Well, xsynatic is right; at least in the EU store you can choose:

Maybe because it’s sold out

I have the AMS buffer in my cart right now, so can get it separately. The 4 pin cable is out of stock, so maybe that’s it. Lucky I have a spare one of those!

Same thing happened to me today. It wasn’t clear the kit was missing stuff and that I had to order to all the parts individually with no ETA on parts stock. So now I have a ams2pro and no way to use it. Ridiculous.

Clearly says “AMS 2 Pro Combo with Buffer” on U.S. page, but I didn’t get any buffer.

Same boat. I specifically ordered the AMS 2 Pro combo WITH the buffer and only received PTFE couplers in my accessories package. After 8 or so hours I managed to catch the 24/7 chat support and was told the buffer was in the accessories package. They stated it was being escalated but I’m starting to believe that’s just a way of brushing off the issue. Was forcibly disconnected from the chat after and no response from my ticket. I’m tempted to just try connecting the AMS to the direct feed via PTFE coupler and see what happens. Was super excited to get the P1S and AMS 2 Pro but I’m starting to heavily regret my purchase.

Although this situation sucks for everyone, it’s at least a bit comforting to know I’m not the only one dealing with it. I opened a support ticket and went back and forth with them for a while. My request was simple:

  1. Since I had to pay another $8 just to ship the buffer, I asked for a credit for that shipping cost.
  2. I asked them to fix their site (at least the CAD version), because it’s clearly confusing customers.

In both cases, they did not do anything, so I just gave up. Not worth my time to drag it out with support. Customer service fail.

I am also having the same issue. Went to put my printer together today and found out I was missing the buffer when trying to install the AMS2 Pro. Hopefully support will come through.

Ditto. That 4 pin bus is nowhere to be found in stock for delivery inside next 2 weeks. Got my AMS2 delivered almost a week ago
