Missing top layer

I have a new H2D and am having the same problem with Bambu slicer and the top layer. No matter what I do I can’t fix it.

Regret spending $5K with Bambu

Welcome to the forum.

Can you provide the .3mf that you are having issues with?

I am running into the same problem. Too bad the previous user never submitted the .3mf so that everyone could learn what to do. I am uploading my .3mf. I would love the assistance if anyone could provide some help! I built this in Blender. I am to understand that Blender has issues when bringing the file over to the Studio software. This is all new to me. Thanks in advance! Also, using version 4.5.3 in Blender. At version 2.3.1.51 for Bambulabs Studio.

it’s your export file’s issue. you need to learn how to export proper model from blender. there’s nothing wrong on bambu’s side because I can see your stl is broken.

What tells you that the stl is broken? Also, when you say “learn how to export proper model”, are you saying that the object is messed up in Blender or the output of the file from Blender is messed up?

Because the STL you exported is not a solid, watertight model.

In 3D printing, all models must be watertight. That means the surface should be closed and manifold — not open, not self-intersecting, and not containing any non-manifold geometry.

A watertight model, for example, is a cube.
A broken model, still using a cube as an example, would be a cube missing one or more faces. While it might still look like a cube, it’s actually unprintable because it no longer encloses a solid volume. You now only have “surfaces” instead of “volumes”, so there’s no “depth” anymore.

A simple mathematical way to think about it:
If you poke a needle through the object in any direction, the needle should always enter and exit exactly once — at least two intersections with the surface.

The issue could have happened at any stage — during modeling or when exporting to STL. I’m not an expert in Blender, but I’d suggest looking up some tutorials on “watertight models” or “fixing non-manifold geometry” on YouTube University.

Thank you… I will certainly do that. One more question, what shows you if the model is watertight or not? What tips you off that the model is not watertight…missing faces…?

ShrinkWrap Feature in Rhino

well my peasant method is to look around in the slicer is by zooming in and check every corner to see if there’s something that I can see through…or rendered weirdly like this:

@CincinnatiDesigns… What is Rhino?

@hotellonely…Thank you for the insight! Makes sense now when you did the close up view!

It can be expensive, but they have a 90 day free trial.

It is a powerful mesh modeling tool. But its best feature is the shrink wrap. It can make anything into a solidmodel pretty much.
