Mixing brands between the same filament type shouldn’t be a problem at all. Mixing filament types can work depending on the blends of the filaments. Mixing PLA and PETG won’t work at all because PETG doesn’t bond to PLA. Turning dire straits into a virtue, you can use PETG as a support interface for PLA prints and vice versa. There are loads of tutorials on the net for doing that.
