Hi all, I’m going to be uploading a model soon but I only recently decided to start making things to share, so I’m unfamiliar with the best practices for Makerworld. In my particular case I have 4 variants, left and right handed models and 2 sizes of each (one for H2D and one for X/A/P1 series, not including the A1 mini). Would it be better to upload it as multiple models and just link to each other in the description or add it as a print profile? And to dive a bit deeper, if I were to put the different printer models as their own model pages, would it be smart to have the left and right handed versions as print profiles (if I can even do that with it being a different model)?
My recommendation: Stick to a single model upload and use print profiles, print plates, or a combination of both to offer the different variants and sizes. While it may seem appealing to split them into separate models to gain more downloads and prints, this approach can actually work against you:
- Perception of spam: Makerworld may view multiple similar uploads as spammy, which could hurt your visibility.
- Diluted engagement: Splitting your files can divide downloads, prints, and boosts across multiple models—reducing the chance of one strong, high-performing listing that ranks well in searches.
- Better user experience: Users prefer finding all variants in one place. Just ensure your cover image clearly shows that multiple versions are available.

Agree, better user experience for others and for you. There is a 38 plate limit, though. I’ve got a model with 114 variants and I uploaded each one as a separate bambu studio 3MF file with the best profile settings. I wanted to lay each one on a separate plate, so the variants desired could be printed from the handy app.

Has it been increased as I thought it was limited to 36?
You can do so also if you are placing more than one variant on the print plate, as you can select the objects on the print plate in the handy app.

Agree; it’s an extra step for the user, though. It’s what I did on my Rear caps-Sony E w/lens info for Sony Full Frames by paulsizemore MakerWorld: Download Free 3D Models - having worked in UX & product design for a while, I was/am trying to find a solution that reduces the friction to users printing.
There are a lot of users that don’t understand why the bed plate is worn in the back, or what is the purge tower. I suggest the purge tower auto writes ‘purge tower’ on it, and can be toggled off in Studio. One way to cut down on support tickets.
