Many would appreciate a timely release of the corresponding firmware, since it is not only a Quality-of-Life improvement but a real de-blocker for a lot of printing scenarios; especially those involving TPU pads and inserts that can’t be realized by a layer-based pause (edit: without a rather involved work around).
I believe in the slicer you can set a pause, to switch filaments for layer level changes, but I cant imagine how tedious color changes would be on more colorful prints.
I still think it would be a good fix, and hope they do it. So I’m not trying to blow you off.
@SupportAssistant Would you kindly take a look at this and ideally give us an approximate timeline, please? — I’m really struggling to make my current print project reliably work in any other way. I’m happy to try out beta-firmware, if need be.
Yes, for many multi-colour changes, it would be very tedious. I have one print I do that would require only two layers of blue and red on top of a white base, meaning that I could do it with 4 filament changes to produce forty objects.
When I designed it, I solved the problem by printing three different colours separately. It took me a long time to design so the red could be added with the whole-layer pause, and blue dropped into place and glued. In that case, the tedium of designing and post process gluing fifty of them far outweighs the tedium of 4 colour changes.
Could you please check with the team whether a private beta can be made available? — no known timeline for release seems unacceptable for something that is essentially (in end-customer lingo) a bug-fix rather than a “feature”.
I would supposedly rightfully expect - when buying a BambuLab - that it can do filament change as any marketable 3D printer can do, including manual filament change, if there’s no other relief (for example because the AMS does not support the filament).
you can currently insert a pause in the slicer for a filament change in a build like you were saying. If you look into it, it might actually fit your need.

Unfortunately that doesn’t work, because these TPU are required to be precise flexible support pads inside another structure. For a demo I can CA-glue them, but that won’t hold for long.
I’d really appreciate attention from BambuLabs on this issue in such a way that production planning can somehow work around this. Custom filament change G-Code hadn’t worked for me.
