Multi object print - "layer shift" at height of lowest object

Hey Community,

I have witnessed the following behavious on my A1-AMS:
whenever I print multiple object on the bed, there is always some kind of “layer shift” / “layer bulge” at the height of the end of a just finished object (so if there are 2 objects, A & B, when object A is finished, you see the “bulge” in Object B, at the exact height (top) of object A).

putting this topic in the software section, as it is my feeling, its either to do with the X/Y calculation (line width) mathematics when having an “object less” to print in a layer… OR its got to do with the top layers setting for the object that is being completed, interfering with the object that is not completed (which is not on its top layer, yet on its regular layer)…
(Ps: purely drawn from logical thinking… I have no facts to support this logic (yet))

just FYI, its not a true layer shift (as in skipped steps)… but more of a “bulge” on the print surface…

It most likely has to do with time. When both parts are being worked on then the time to complete a layer is on part A is increased due to part B, when part A is done then part B now has a reduced layer time.

I’m not sure of the best solution but I would probably try to print by object and if that is not possible I would investigate the min layer time in filament settings or printing speeds.

A picture might shed more light if you continue to experience issues.

Hey Lenyo,

thanks for the suggestion… I have read also somewhere on Reddit that it may be because of the top-layer settings of th e(nearly) finished parts and/or speed settings related to this… yet I would expect that the (still printing) part would have its own (independent) speed settings, on a per object level… and that its not per layer (across objects)… You suggestion would also make sense in some way or another, It could be that the layer cools more while there are multiple objects printing, yet than I would expect a difference before and after the level of other parts, not only at the top-level of the part (if that makes sense)…
I have also taken some pictures, where you see the line and the 2 objects that where on the bed (on the photo the object are on their side)…
