I just ordered a P2S Combo and I have two AMS 2 Pros hooked to my A1, so I will have 3 AMSs to hook up to the P2S. So far as I can tell there is only one PTFE tube connector for an AMS and one for the external spool, on the back of the P2S. So anyone know what I need to connect more than one AMS? I looked on the Bambu store while buying the printer and saw a 4-way connector ($5) and the AMS Hub ($49), but the screw holes on the AMS Hub do not match the ones on the P2S buffer, unless they are hidden. Just asking in advance. Thanks!
Just buy the 4 way.
Thanks! I’ll do that. I was just going get both at the time I ordered, but with shipping added for that 4-way it wasn’t worth it not knowing for sure. ![]()
For clarity, there are two inputs, you could use both for AMS connections if you choose to forgo the potential of an external hook up.
Other than that clarification, do what @R3d-Five said.
After buying an AMS-HT, I hooked it up to the PTFE tube that was used for the external spool. So now 2 AMS working without extra hardware.
Thanks! Yup I will have 3 AMS’s and I still want the external for TPU. So I will get the 4-Way connector.
I don’t want to look too stupid here but is this what you are talking about or are you talking about the AMS hub.
Yep.
This is a picture of the 4-way connector. That’s what I’m going to get to hook up the 3 AMS Pros.
To connect multiple AMS on fact you news 4 in 1 PTFE adapter, the One you have in image. AMS HUB IS NEITHER COMPATIBLE NOR NECESSARY WITH P2S
They have a new 4 - 1 PTFE adapter, you can see it on the H2C. I think they will be selling this as a standalone product soon just like they did with the enhanced cooling fan or the induction hotends.
I am still not clear on how to connect extra AMS’ to my P2S. Most of the Wiki and other resources only talk about the P1S, which uses a whole different hardware setup.
I have an array of four AMS1s that I was using with a now-deceased P1S. I have the 4-to-1 PTFE adaptor in hand. Does it matter which port on the P2S is connected to the adaptor? Does it matter where I connect the cable from the AMS daisy chain?
Because I bought the P2S Combo, I also have one AMS2. Would I be able to use it also if I connected it to the other PTFE port and cable connection on the P2S (other than the one I use for the AMS1 array)?
If you got the combo you have the two port buffer on the back. The 4-1 hub will port into the buffer. You can use two of them for a total of 8 units. (4 AMS and 4 AMS HT’s). I don’t think it matters the order you daisy chain them. You can also change the order from the printer if you want to. And I think either port on the buffer will work for the chain line cable.
I tried it. The four AMS1 are polling and displayed on the P2S panel and in Bambu Studio. The AMS2 is not visible and all of its slots are lit red. Evidently this configuration is not supported, so I will reinstall the external spool feeder and save the AMS2 for my next new printer.
You can use only up tu 4 AMS/AMS 2 Pro and up to 4 AMS HT. You can’t have more than 4 AMS/AMS 2 Pro in P2S as you tried. AMS HT is the single spool heater.
It would be really nice if Bambu Lab would post a setup diagram for using P2S with 2, 3, and 4 AMS units.
Excellent information! thank you so much. I see that the WIKI has all this information - Did I miss it before? In any case, thank you for the link to it!
Exactly what I was looking for. I find it interesting that you can daisy-chain all 8 AMS’s on one 6-pin port. Would it work if you split them? Would it make any difference?
You dont have to daisy chain them if you are only using 2. It does not make a difference.
Although accessories like the external exhaust fan will use on of the ports as well.
