Is there an easy way to do multiple layer operations on the same layer? E.g. “change filament” and “add pause”?
I recently did a HueForge print, and it would have been nice to add a pause at the same time as doing a filament swap. I was fortunate that I could structure my AMS layout as ABCD → AEFG where there were two A layers and B, C, and D were all before it and E, F, and G, were all after it, so I could pause after the first A layer and swap spools, then switch to E after the second A layer. But there are a bunch of ways that could have not worked, including if I needed an H color, if there was only 1 layer of A, or if I still needed to use B again after A.
Not sure if that’s what you are after but I do things this way >
Create custom filaments just by type and brand but not colour.
Or if using supported filament leave the colour info out.
Calibrate as usual but make sure to name the corresponding profiles accordingly to avoid later confusion.
Like this and with the option to detect spool changes disabled the AMS will just assume that a roll that goes into a slot is the same as before.
If it is the same type you can set the colour in the AMS settings and won’t have to worry about Studio as it updates correctly during a AMS sync.
The beauty of this with the new firmwares is that you change the filament and setting for unused AMS slots on the fly.

You work out which colour you need when and work out a matching order so unused slots can be filled with other spools.
Write it down for Justin 
Now you just set the same or if you want matching colours for the slot when changing rolls and the printer will be none the wiser and just keep going.
In theory and if you no longer need the colourful preview you could just assign the colour on the fly while changing rolls or go without.
As long as the correct slot is used and YOU put the right colour in the print will just keep going…
