I wanted a better way to keep all four AMS Lite filaments protected from humidity while still keeping the original AMS Lite system easy to use.
After several rounds of measuring, modelling, prototyping and real-world testing, I built this 4-spool sealed dry box setup.
Each spool has its own individual dry box, hygrometer and desiccant compartment, while the custom adapters mount directly to the AMS Lite without drilling or permanent modification.
The original AMS Lite mechanism remains functional, and each dry box can still be removed individually when changing filament.
After finishing the design, I decided to make the printable adapters open source on MakerWorld so other AMS Lite users can build and improve the system too.
I’d love to hear what other AMS Lite users think, especially how you are currently dealing with filament humidity.
An adapter for an unknown box… lol, nice. The box clearly caught my eye.
Image search of just the round box turned up results… Ali, Temu, the usual… and a hit at Amazon Canada, but not in the US (that I can find). It’s apparently branded, or not, under various names.
At first I thought the boxes were his but after going to the model page, it got obvious they were commercial molded polyethylene boxen.
Added - only thing about those poly containers is the limited lifetime on the flap/clamp bits. Cycle those enough and they start cracking and breaking off.
$120 US for 4 of them to try? No, sorry, a bit too dear for my wallet.
Also, I assume some surgery on them would be necessary to mount them on the Lite but the OP doesn’t go into that, at least as far as I’ve seen.
