Started and finished a new life-size model. I decided I wanted to try a pre-built model of a B1 Droid from Star Wars: Episode One to go with my Episode One pinball machine.

I started it in February, and finished yesterday. I captured all steps/analytics to create a Tableau dashboard (coming soon).

Highlights include:

  • 191.5 Hours of Print Time (minus about 8.5 hours due to failures).
  • 9,123g of Filament Used / 10 Rolls (Bambu PLA Matte Latte Brown)
  • Spent just under $300 USD for the file, filament, hardware, etc. I needed a lot of hardware that I didnā€™t have, so I have a large surplus).
  • Filament worked well, no taped ends, it was the new batches as it snagged a few times due to being poorly wound, but it worked. Most failures were from small pieces being shifted during print, or supports clogging holes (this was my fault, as the instructions clearly said what pieces should have supports, I did not read it).

Overall a real fun build. It was vastly different than Iron Man. It was optimized for 3D printers, and worked with various sizes, it had detailed instructions, and it was more like a model instead of a statue.

Looks Fantastic!

Is that a ā€œSolidā€ stormtrooper model in the background?

Thank you! It was a fun build! The Stormtrooper is a Home Depot holiday statueā€¦ itā€™sā€¦ fine I guessā€¦? The proportions are pretty far off, and honestly it has the quality of a cheaply made Halloween costume; however, it was cheap, and well thatā€™s fine.
