I am using three AMS units. One AMS is assigned to the left nozzle, and two AMS units are assigned to the Vortec system. All AMS units are loaded with Bambu Lab filaments, and all filaments were detected correctly. After synchronization, the filaments are displayed correctly in Bambu Studio.
The model uses five colors. The main color is assigned to the left nozzle, and the other four colors are assigned to the Vortec system. The model was colored using exactly the colors shown and selectable in Bambu Studio.
During printing, however, the H2C uses two different filaments from the AMS. Two colors are correct, and two are wrong. Notably, both Vortec AMS units are affected.
Is this a known issue, or has anyone experienced a similar problem?
I have but its always that for some reason bambu studio and the printer don’t agree. A resync helps at times but you do need to keep a eye on it. I don’t funny understand why the printer and studio can’t be automatically stay in sync better.
I’m curious whether this occurs when printing directly from Bambu Studio, or if it also happens when you initiate the print directly from the printer itself?
I’ve documented multiple cases where Studio incorrectly maps filament assignments, and if you’re not paying close attention when sending the print job from Studio, you can end up with the wrong color—though, to my knowledge, never the wrong material type.
This phenomenon has been present across the product line from the X1 Carbon through the H2D (which will be my final Bambu Lab printer, given their demonstrated attitude toward customer concerns). The issue occurs when initiating prints from Studio but never when I start the print directly from the printer interface.
I always print directly from Bambu Studio. After slicing, the colors are also displayed correctly in the preview, where I can see which nozzle will print which color. The correct colors are then displayed there.

is this a Mac? Bambu studio on mac gets out of sync with the printer sometimes and should be restarted before each print job
Is there any correlation between the “wrong filament” issue and having just swapped nozzles around in the Vortec rack?
I had something similar with Studio ↔ printer getting the nozzles mixed up when sending a print, and pretty sure it had something to do with swapping nozzles in the rack, after which Studio and printer were out of sync, although the information displayed appeared correct (w/out restarting Studio).
Unfortunately problems like this are hard to reproduce reliably. If anyone can come up with a “repro” scenario, that would go a long way to helping solve the issue (by BL or one of the Studio contributors, or even just a clear workaround). I know, that’s generally not fun.

April 2026, this is still happening. I have an HT connected to my left nozzle, AMS2 on the right. Sometimes in the slicer, I can’t select a filament from the AMS2 for the object on the plate. I have to delete the existence of the filament in the HT before the slicer will let me assign an AMS2 filament for the object

Hi, how is the problem you describe similar? The OP was talking about the printer choosing the wrong filament once it is already printing (or after the print was sent, anyway). At least that was my understanding.
During printing, however, the H2C uses two different filaments from the AMS.

I respectfully suggest starting a new thread and describing the issue in more detail. I’m not sure what “delete the existence” means exactly, for example. Personally I haven’t encountered what you describe, and I’m not sure I’ve seen the same thing reported before or not. Perhaps we could figure out a repro scenario.

Hello, I have an H2C with one AMS HT and one AMS 2 Pro hotend, which I alternate between. On the right side (Vortek), I have three AMS 2 Pro hotends. For the past three months, I’ve already printed over 1,100 hours without a single problem!
I regularly update, calibrate, and recheck the hotend system on both the left and right sides, which might explain why I’ve never encountered this issue. I did once have a problem with a right hotend made of carbide (0.4 HF WC), but since then I’ve only used standard 0.4 mm hardened steel hotends, and everything works perfectly. To give you an idea, I haven’t had to change any hotends in over 800 hours of printing with technical filaments containing CF or GF, without any visible loss of precision. I print sliding parts, so that would definitely be noticeable! Perhaps recalibrating everything after restarting will fix your problem. A little perseverance and luck should help you get your machine back in top condition!
I have had this happen and I think its a bug in Studio, I’ve seen some jobs if I have sliced everything ahead of time for a multi plate job, start the longest print and go away for half a day (computer suspends), come back and the next plate is ready to print and it shows up with three of the same filaments and closing and reopening the project/slicing that plate again fixes it. I think someone else is right, its a sync issue between what the printer knows, the slicer knows and what was sliced.
