One of my A1s has had a very mysterious “Z banding” issue on almost all prints since I got it. Initially I thought it was because of vibrations from the P1S next to it, else I would have returned it. The banding seems to scale with print time and number of objects on the plate, and is most prominent on long full plate prints, both multicolor and single colour.
I’ve been back and forth with Bambu Support since March this year and they have been all but useless. Since sending me a replacement extruder module and Z frame, which didn’t fix the problem, all they’ve been doing is wasting my time by asking me to do pointless tests and insisting that the issue is due to layer time inconsistencies.
I know for a fact that it is not a layer time issue, because I print the exact same files on my other A1 without issue. The A1s are next to each other, and there is no draft or any environmental factors affecting one but not the other. On top of that, I’ve change location and swapped them multiple times and the issue persists.
The last braindead test they asked me to do was to print a single object and add a pause every layer to “discontinuous printing and cooling”. I printed the part and as expected, the banding issue was not visible since it was only a single.
The incompetent support agent then draws a bunch of random arrows and literally perfect layers and insists that the issue is present and he’s correct about layer time inconsistencies, and offers no further advice.
Has anyone here dealt with anything like this? I’ve only ever seen a single other post about a similar issue, on one of the facebook groups, but the person didn’t reply to any comments so I’m not sure if it was actually the same.
