I am currently printing this build plate holder on my X1C.
I started with plate 2 and it printed perfectly.
Then I wanted to print plate 3 and midway through, one of the edges started warping and lifting off the build plate with spaghettis. This was on the upper left corner of the build plate. I thought it was due to finger prints on the edge of the plate. So I washed the plate with hot water and soap and tried again… same problem. This was with the Bambu smooth pei plate. Third time with structured pei plate same problem.
I then moved on and tried plate 4, which has a bigger contact area with the plate, again using the structured pei plate. The print stuck to the bed but the outer walls are not very nice.
I’m using Sunlu PLA Silver which I‘ve used for countless other prints with no issues so far. I tried to print something else in between and that also came out fine.
Some of my bigger PLA prints also encountered warping when the chamber temperature was too low (in my case it was about 20°C). This happened especially when the door was open, so the chamber didn’t have a chance to heat up.
Since then I first heat up the chamber to about 35-40°C by doing the following:
bed in “home” position
bed temperature at 75-80°C
aux fan @ 50% or more
door and top remain closed while heating up and printing
Try disabling the Aux fan that is on in nearly every filament default. It blows from the left and sucks in air from the lower part of chamber that may be too cold. Its enough to cool down the print too much on the left side causing early release from the plate. if that doesn’t work wash your plate, if that still doesn’t work and your printer is new you could have a cold spot in the corner of your plate like mine and you may need to think about ordering a new hot plate from a support ticket.
Thanks for the reply! I will be also trying this once I get home.
In the pictures I provided the bigger part didn’t lift but the print quality was very bad. Could this also come from the aux fan?
It is indeed very possible that the aux fan on the left side was blowing hard enough to cool the PLA too much before proper interlayer adhesion could happen especially if you see the problem more on the overhang area which is going to be more sensitive to both overcooling and overheating as well, so it could be a couple different things regarding print quality itself.
I also cant stress this enough, DRY your filament, even if it came fresh out of the box. I recently got filament from BL fresh out of the box that I got to lose 2 grams of water before it would print with good quality.
