Need help please. Small gaps on first layer

Hello, I am having quality issues on the first layer. Specifically, between the walls and infill there is a small gap where the filament doesn’t reach whilst the filament is being laid. You can see the gaps in the slicer software too (I attached a screenshot). I can also see the gaps form while the first layer is being printed physically.

I changed a few settings but nothing will fill the gap. I think because the model is a circle it makes filling the space between the walls tricky?

I increased the flowrate
tested all infill patterns
slowed the print speed down to 25 for first layer and infill (which seemed to make it worse)

I thought I would ask here before I go through the hassle of changing the entire model to something other than a circle.

Has anyone experienced these small gaps between the walls and infill on the first layer, and if so, how did you fix them?

I’m printing with the Bambu Lab A1 and I use Bambu Studio for slicing.

You will not be able to eliminate all gaps, but the Arachne wall generator helps somewhat.

Also, the surface patterns helps. Rather than using Monotonic, use Monotonic line. Concentric, as shown in your last pic, results in even fewer gaps, but they may be sharper thn with monotonic line.

Also check the line width preview when using Arachne.

I’d try a different fill pattern, if that isn’t one of the settings you’ve already tried. Can read more here: Fill Pattern Introduction | Bambu Lab Wiki

Or, potentially could try the Arachne wall generator and playing around with some of those settings:

That’s also a mechanical limitation; you’re limited by the nozzle size. In other words, if you use a 0.2 nozzle, the holes will become significantly smaller, to the point where they’re barely visible.

You can try it out in Bambu Studio: Change the nozzle to 0.2 and then slice - you’ll see the difference.

hello, I read the replies and have tried all of the infill patterns before I posted this but they all seem to have a small gap somewhere between the walls and infill.

i always use the classic wall generator. i will try again with arachne and see how it is.

i don’t have a .2 nozzle so if the advice above doesn’t make a difference i’ll change the model to something other than a circle.

Monotonic produces a line pattern with a displacement move perpendicular to the lines. This leads to a small triangular void if the outer wall is not perpendicular to the line.

Monotonic line produces a line pattern with a displacement move parallel to the wall. This closes the void from Monotonic, but the void due to the circular nozzle making a sharp turn remains.

Concentric maintains parallelity with walls, eliminating voids at the wall. However, where concentric pathways meet from different directions, sharper corners are printed with a circular nozzle, leading to larger and hence more noticeable voids. And the pattern may not actually be desired.

Arachne allows printing of local line widths down to ~60% of the nozzle diameter. This allows the reduction, but not complete elimination, of voids.
