I found a stl file that has presets for Jayo filament. I am trying to add these as a custom filaments. I click on the 3dots beside the profile, edit, change the name and then save. Then I try to go to the gear wheel and then add custom filament. I go through the process and when I get to the pull down list of profile to add these Jayo profiles are not there to pick. What am I doing wrong, I bought some Jayo to make some toys for family kids.
I may not be understanding, when you clicked the 3 dots and saved you were done. it should now show under “custom”
It does but if you close Bambu Studio that dose not carry over or so it did not on me.
To be clear, click the 3 dots, click edit, click save , rename, the select user presets. ?
Yea I did that and it shows up in the filament preset for that model but when you open a new file those presets are not there.
That is what I would expect if you clicked project presets rather than user presets.for me they stay. We are at the end of my usefulness, I struggle here as well,
I am pretty sure I put it in user preset I am in the same boat as you.
You can also create a new custom filament going through the settings gear that you were talking about, but when you go there it is different steps.
Yea that is what I tried to but the saved filament is not in the list to pick
I am already confused on your first line here. If you would have said a 3mf file, I would follow you, but AFAIK an stl file only contain faceted geometry, no profiles.
Besides that, I have had the same issue with Siraya Tech profiles in their 3mf files.
They load up fine, but no matter if you save them as a user or a project profile. They don’t seem to stay in BS.
Does the saved profile show up in “unsupported” filaments (the sub-menu), or not at all?
The way Studio manages custom filament profiles, they’re always tied to a specific printer and nozzle size, and will not be selectable for any other nozzle size. For example the profiles saved from a project are always tied to the same printer and nozzle size of the project they were saved from, which sometimes trips people up. But those would typically still show up in “unsupported” sub-menu.
I’ve also seen Studio delete profiles at startup which it deems invalid (due to a syntax error or invalid value in one of the fields). Which is just rude. There could also be issues with cloud sync, if that’s enabled. One way to check all that is to view the local file system. Open the local configuration folder (eg. from Help menu), then inside the user folder there will be a default folder and probably a numbered folder if you log into Studio when using it. Inside either/both of those will be a filaments folder, and custom profiles are saved inside there. If they’re not being saved properly, or deleted at some point automatically, there’s some issue.
Also note that if you switch between being logged into Studio and not, the whole different custom profiles directory is used, so it may seem like custom profiles have disappeared. I suppose the same issue would occur if one uses different user accounts with Studio.
