I have attached several images of my last print with the P1S/0.4mm hotend and door closed. The filament is Jayo PLA Basic. The printing quality settings are attached. The strings are to represent an ascending stairway but several broke. So;
The model height is 148mm. Would a larger model (200mm) help?
Layer height is 0.20mm. Would 0.28mm help?
I used Jayo PLA Basic because the spool was nearly full. Would a PLA+ or PLA+ 2.0 hold-up better?
I planned on painting the model with acrylic paint. Is acrylic good on PLA?
In the image there is a lot of support. With all the support removed the image of Jesus would be supported only by the string stairs. That would seem impossible without braking some. We’ll see.
Hello! If you are asking about the strings breaking, it’s probably because the distance is too far away, or the filament doesn’t have enough time to dry. Using a bigger layer height will just make print lines more noticeable. I find that acrylic paint works great on 3d printed stuff. I even prime my prints before I paint them. Hope this helps! Cool model!
Sighhh…. there are some models that simply do not print as the uploader advertises. All bambu cares about is not whether a model actually is real but whether or not it will invite clicks and ultimately spawn filament sales.
We will never know how many attempts or failed prints it took to get to this one model, bit it’s clear that if this is his best example, he was experiencing the same issues that you are showing,
While I may come across as distrustful, there’s a reason for that. All too many times I trusted a model only to find out it was fake pics and computer renderings.
My advice is before you spend time and filament, wait to see if anyone else was successful. As an example, this one person used a Snapmaker U1 which has every advantage of requiring minimal purging. As you can see, he did not have good results. But there are more examples than just this, in fact, most look like garbage, your image probably is better than most posted so far.
What you will notice are all the five star one liners. And if you look closely, the wording is too similar to each one-line post. Not one of these posted a print but all of them gave five stars…. hmmmm… what does that say about the integrity of the MakerWorld rating system?
Here’s how Makerworld’s incentives work against review integrity. They give recognition for posting reviews. That in turn increase badge status. If they wanted to fix this, they would not allow reviews to count as an achievement.
I did further testing playing with settings in Bambu Studio and I believe it’s not possible to print this model without the “stairs” failing. The test included various layer thickness and width, 0.4mm and 0.6mm hotends and the model size. Each slice proved to have a max of two passes for each stair which is the same as my failed print. Trying a larger model added support for most of the stairs which probably would destroy the stairs when removing.
As I used basic PLA, perhaps a PLA + or PLA + 2.0 might do the trick but not worth it to me to try.
Don’t let yourself get conned into marketing BS. There is no industry standard that defines what PLA+ or PLA+ 2.0 actually is. The major difference is the latter will lighten your wallet, not producer significantly different results if any.
