I am all for collaboration. I am all for making the user’s experience better and supporting Bambu Lab in selling more printers and filament!
As a new /novice 3d model designer, I am a bit surprised that anyone can take somebody’s model and re-upload it another designer’s unrelated 3d model (as a third-party print profile) and there is nothing that the designer of the target 3d model can do about it?
I am not sure people are doing this? (steal points? annoy? troll? idk)
I am sure the product and software engineers supporting Maker World did not intend for this feature to be used for this purpose.
Please implement a way for designers to remove, or block or disallowing third-party profiles on models (or globally).
I would love it if people took one of my designs, improved it, and re-uploaded it as a third-party profile if it helped or brought value to the users out there. But if someone steals someone else’s competing design, and uploads it to my model, that only serves to confuse and deceive the user.
thanks for the reply and screenshots. Yes, I found that and reported when it occurred. I’m not sure how long that process takes.
It’s a bit surprising to me that this is the only remedy implemented at this time.

Also while my first use-case was the fact that an a user posted another author’s design to my model, there are many other reasons why we should be able to remove or block third party profiles:
Off the top of my head are:
Remove spam models
Remove stolen third party models
Enforce brand safety
Ensure quality of user experience
Ensure revisions are appropriately handled
These are just a few use cases, I am sure there are more.
I think in the end, the author of the model should have editorial control of the print profiles made available through their own models.
Yes, the “ownership” of print profiles was requested numerous times, you can search for such requests and the reactions. Maybe this time MakerWorld’s staff will listen and implement some form of print profile moderation for authors
yeah, I read through some of those threads dating back two years. I saw some improvements, but didn’t feel that these needs that I delineated are being met yet.
I’m having the exact same issue. Many different accounts create many different spam profiles all across my models. I need to report them one by one. Given the terms of the exclusive license, the ability to disable 3rd party profiles feels like an entirely logical option to me even if spam wasn’t an issue.
