New algorithm gives me no more points, boosts etc

Whatever I do, publish a new model, print and rate MakerWorld models or other people prints my models I receive ZERO points and ZERO boosts to give away.

@MakerWorld, maybe I’ve misunderstood the new rules, but IMO there’s something wrong …

Points are awarded when your models or print profiles reach milestones. Milestones are calculated by adding up the number of downloads plus 2x the number of prints. Bambu Lab hasn’t published the new milestones or the number of points awarded when you reach them. But, in general, if you have a new model, you should expect to receive points when your DL+2P equals 10 or more. The numbers change as your model is printed/downloaded more. When it comes to earning points, today ends at +0 UTC, and tomorrow starts immediately thereafter. Points earned today will be awarded starting at -2 UTC tomorrow. I allow up to 20 minutes for all of the points to be awarded. My experience shows that, in general, point awards are at least as generous as they were under the old system. This holds for at least the first several thousand DL+2P.

I think they changed the way they give out boosts. Seems to me I read somewhere that MakerWorld was awarding boosts based on the complexity or size of the model being printed. The things that I have been printing off of MakerWorld have been simple things and not too many. I haven’t gotten a boost to hand out for a long time. Nonetheless, between my more popular models, I have been receiving, on average, one a day.

Thanks for your comments.

Everything is down since the rule changes, only one or two have said they get the same, I can’t remember anyone saying they get more, most (almost everyone) gets less, most get way less.

I am getting between 25-33% of what I used to receive depending on the week. My work used to receive many Boosts from users, now very few. On a Monday I used to get 50+, this week I received 2.

My most popular model is also a featured model, the most popular traditional fidget spinner available, it used to get 150 a day, now it is averaging 25 a day - THEY PROMOTE THIS MODEL!

The good old days are gone, I wasn’t here for the initial gold rush, but I did well. Now it feels like an insult as my work didn’t get worse, users didn’t start hating it, it just became demonetised.

If it wasn’t for the fact I donate all proceeds my account earns, I would have deleted it.

Thanks for your comment and explanation.

This is my favorite hobby and initially I loved the way BL was acting for the community.

Even if always lacking of transparency, in some ways they “respected” the designers work.

Now the logic is unclear.

Undoubtedly they do fantastic printers, but in terms of human relationships they get no score.

I’m just sad for them …

Seems pretty clear to me - cut rewards to the bone. They’ve been inundated with AI models/“photos” from people gaming the system and don’t seem to be willing to use humans to just police or approve the submissions. Instead they rely on users to report users and have apparently decided that reducing incentives to fight the AI slop is a good strategy too besides minimizing costs.

But the logic is intended to be unclear otherwise they give the scammers a roadmap on how to attack the system.

So shoot on em all, bad or good guys.

And humanity is not our affair …

gotcha!

Again I’m sad for them

Im not complaining about points, Im complaining about creators that don’t print their models and use AI generated images, then I print the model based off their image and end up tossing in the garbage because it is not like the image posted.

yea, I wont disagree with that, its a dirt bag move.
learn to assess print profiles before hitting “print”

Its a cruel world.

makerworld only monitized ppl to grow their platform, now they dont need to grow it anymore. trying out other newer model repositorys will probably yeild more rewards, e.g elegoo nexprint

I keep reading that AI this and AI that. I don’t even care anymore since i already cashed out all my money from MW last week after seeing what is going on.

But i can also confirm (100%) that people that spit models everyday with or without the help of AI, are getting rewarded normally while people that do their work and take their time by not uploading daily/weekly, are getting downplayed.

If people in this and other topics are stating they are getting normal rewards, then check their profiles and you’ll understand why. But don’t downplay what others are seeing everyday with their own models.

Quick tip: create a new MW account. Start spitting quick AI models and wait a week or 2, even a month. Then check the rewards and be consistent about uploading them (it takes a few minutes for an AI model to be created) and also using AI to generate good photos of the model. You will quickly see that i, and many others, are right and that indeed they get more rewarded than with their original account.

You know what, I’m jumping ship. This isn’t worth it. This is just an example of what not to do to your site…

I have, if it has a AI cover image I dont click on it. the problem is like you said it is the new normal,

Good point about the monetization shift. I’ll give NexPrint a shot and see how it compares. Thanks for the recommendation! :handshake:
