Where did this come from all of a sudden? Since when has there been a Reddit-style comment rating feature in this forum, and why is it suddenly appearing in some threads?
Weird…I wonder what the purpose of a comment is versus a reply?
It’s actually been an option for a while. There have been a couple threads like this. Can’t say I personally like the style and much prefer the standard thread style.
I really hope this is a dead end feature. Reddit style formatting is a very bad way to have genuine conversations. The tree style comments break the flow of conversation, and the sorting by votes destroys timelines. It is nearly impossible to have a serious discussion on Reddit because each thread spawns its own tree’s of conversation that have nothing to do with each other.
How can anyone compare this forum to the r/bambulabs subreddit and think that they would prefer the latter? I can get real answers to my questions here without having to sort through chains of memes and joke answers to find the occasional nugget of true replies. Sure we have our own silly memes and jokes here, too, but since they all are one after the other in the order of time they responded we can easily skim through and find the real replies without issue.
In real life I can talk to a group, and assume we give one bit of care for each other, we each listen and talk in turn. This forum currently simulates that fairly well. Reddit is the same as if we all talk at the same time, breaking off into smaller groups with random people showing up and joining new groups. A conversation that starts about asking about a print issue will break down into fifty random people telling each other jokes about washing plates and drying filament and showing each other pictures of ducks with middle fingers instead of heads and the person who asked the question will be still standing there wondering what is happening.
If there is any way I can get on my knees and plea with Bambu to not turn this forum into Reddit, I would like to do so.
