I got a new 0.2 mm nozzle for Christmas for my A1 mini, I noticed that the factory installed one had some grease on it. Does it need to be greased and/or lubed? Do I literally just clip it in and go? It feels like I’m not doing enough in a way
No grease is required.
The A series has the easiest installation process by far.
- Make sure the hot end is cool
- Remove the silicon sock
- Unclip the both sides
- Pull the existing hot end towards you, it may require a bit of pressure, I sometimes use pliers carefully for leverage
- Reverse the steps above to install the new one
Enjoy.
God it really is that simple! I’m still convinced this thing is magic somehow
It may be a very advanced and user friendly device, but to me it’s also a magic toy and I feel like a kid again
I do not know if you have a P or X series printer, but, if you have not yet and plan to, be prepared for a much more complicated process.
I strongly recommend purchasing the much more expensive complete hot end. It comes with far more to it and even a circuit board, but, it is the closest you will get to the simplicity of the A series.
The version that is just the hot end requires disassembly of the hot end, and you will need to use Thermal Grease which is annoying and messy and requires you to apply it correctly.
I have yet to lose this feeling and I have been doing this for years.
Hello, if I install the 0.2mm nozzle and find a model that doesn’t have a preset for it, can I create a custom setting for the model on the fly, or is it easier to just switch back to the 0.4mm nozzle?
Use the configvsettings button next to the printer section in Bambu Studio.
Look at the list of printers and tick the 0.2mm nozzle version, I imagine the 0.4mm one is already ticked.
Sorry to bother, but I just learned that you can load models into the A1 Mini that were never officially uploaded for that machine. If I successfully print and upload the file, does this count as a remix?
No, it counts as a new print profile. Be sure to label the profiles a s A1 Mini so that people using Handy know that they can print it.
Yes, doing this gives access to model to those with an A1 mini.
Do not try changing the model though.
Be clear about why you did and as already said, add “A1 mini” in the profile name at the start. This way it is obvious to those looking for it.
Read the guidelines, there are important rules to follow.
The most important one “always provide a clear photo of the model you printed on your printer to prove your profile works.
