New P1S with AMS failed print

So I am new to this stuff, my P1S just arrived a few days and I did already a few succesfull prints. As soon as I noticed that my first filemant roll is about to run empty, I read about how to setup a backup roll. It was fairly self explained. Today befor work I started the print where I would use the backup filament for the first time and this is what happened… hmm. Did I do sth wrong here?

EDIT: I luckily went into my app at work and wanted to monitor the printing and saw it happening, so I stopped the print. Its PETG from nobufil and I use the standard generic PETG setting.

I’m going to guess this occurred at the swap-over point because the problem occured at same point on every object.
How long had the filament you had set up as the backup second spool been open and in the AMS? Maybe a significant difference in dryness of the filament between the two spools?

Oh that might be the case, the old filament was opened 3 days ago and therefore was 3 days in the AMS. While I just opened up the new filament today in the morning. It was still vacuum sealed so I thought it should be fine, I guess that was the mistake then?
If yes how can I avoid that in the future?

Was the vacuum bag still sucked up against the spool and filament? Bag can be “sealed” but poorly so bag not vapor tight.

I personally think “wet filament” gets blamed for too many problems.
In this case you can pretty much say there was a significant difference in the two spools with the second spool being the culprit because it failed well into the print, and failed on every model at the same time.
There is a chart in the wiki with recommended dry time and temperature. Use that as a starting point.

Yeah the bag was still sucked up against the filament. But thank you. Nest time maybe I should get sth like a filament dryer!

New to 3D printing in fact don’t have one but plan on getting one while on sale.
So when you open your filament it will go bad if not used soon? How long will they last after opening? thanks

No, that is no „best before YYYY-MM-DD“ thing it just depends on different filament types, different manufacturers, sometimes just bad luck.

Filament is a hygroscopic material, some filament types get „wet“ really fast in normal room conditions, some are a bit more resistant.
PLA for example is not as hygroscopic as PETG or TPU and can be used „out of the box“ without any drying (in fact drying doesn‘t help getting PLA dry again). PETG can work „out of the box“ but normally it is recommended to dry the filament 4-8 hours at a set temperature in a filament dryer, oven, on the printer‘s printbed,…

I would recommend reading through the Bambu Wiki as there are many informations about the printers, different filament types and what has to be thought of if you plan to use them.
