New printer, bambu ASA clogs the nozzle

Hello
i just got a new bambu p2s and i am trying to print with the bambu basic ASA.
PLA prints perfect every time, but i am having problems with ASA.

When i put a new ASA print, it starts very well, sticks very well to the plate, quality is very good, the print goes perfect for a while, then an error pops out that its unable to extrude.
i have to unclog the nozzle with the supplied thin wire first, then do a cold pull to clean the nozzle.
a cold pull first does not work since nothing goes through the extruder/nozzle.
when i put the wire in the nozzle, i feel there are bits of what seems like burned charcoal, the same is found on the filament i use when i do a cold pull.
i am using the default 0.4mm nozzle, and all settings are the default bambu ones.
i tried multiple times, always the same senario, its as if the asa turns into hardened charcoal inside the nozzle.
i am using all default so temp 270, and i also tried lowering to 255, thinking maybe temp is too high, same result
i am using the ams pro 2, but i also used the external spool holder, same result

any help would be appreciated. i am new at printing ASA

thanks a lot

This might be worth trying:

Doesnt really help your issue, but Bambu ASA is not very good. Their ABS is good.

The ASA needs to be printed slower and hotter than the stock profile.

ASA is called out as a filament that needs drying before printing. Did you dry your filament before use? What kind of procedure? How did you determine if it was sufficiently dry?

Since you have an AMS 2 Pro, did you use its drying cycle? How long? Unfortunately it can’t hit proper drying temperature for ASA though. You can sort of compensate by drying longer but it’s not as effective.

I’ve been printing BL ASA without issue on my P1s to date. Few things to watch out for:

  1. It needs to be DRY. The AMS2Pro, with a max temp of 65C, doesn’t really get hot enough (in my opinion) to dry the ASA properly. If you can get the AMSHT, you’ll be better off, as it can go to 85C, and you’ll still have the automatic filament feeding.

  2. As CarbonForge mentioned… you are probably going too fast. I’ve had good results running at 18mm3/s max volumetric speed.

  3. Are you pre-heating your chamber by letting the heatbed run for ~30 minutes before starting your print?

  4. You mention the default stainless steel nozzle? I’d strongly recommend upgrading to the hardened steel 0.4mm nozzle. In my experience, it’s just an all around better 0.4mm nozzle.

Before you deep-clean the nozzle again — is your ASA dry? ASA absorbs moisture fast, and wet ASA is notorious for clogs and popping. I had the same on a new printer; turns out my spool had been sitting at ~60% RH. I dry my ASA and keep spools in sealed boxes with molecular sieve at <20% RH — the clogging stopped. Worth ruling that out first.
