I’m sure that these questions have all been asked before, but this is my first filament printer and I’m not even sure what the correct terminology is. Anyway -
The first two dozen prints of various sizes and complexity mostly went fine (although the nearly sub-zero temperatures the first night were an issue I thought I’d resolved by keeping room and printer alcove closed off to prevent breezes and retain warmth) but over the last few prints I’ve had increasing issues with support trees failing entirely, layers that aren’t properly fused, and what I believe is called ‘stringing’
I suspected the very cold wet winter might be affecting the filament, but after changing to a new hotplate, recalibrating the printer, opening a fresh reel, and printing off Benchy the problem, if anything, is getting worse. Layers still not fusing at apparently random intervals, infill failure, ridiculous amounts of ‘old filament’ purging, and excessive stringing. And the extruder head is apparently clogging. Or not clearing after job. I’ve taken the extruder head apart a few times to clean it, and didn’t find any obvious blockages, but issues are still ongoing.
A1 with AMS, Bambu PLA filament, standard printer settings, 220C.
Any suggestions about what I’m doing wrong, or recommendations for tutorials that suit the essentially clueless, would be welcome.
