New to 3D printing, is the X1 Carbon for me?

If old farts stop doing they become dead farts quickly, keep on learning and doing. My motto is try and try again. I started learning how to design with 360 Fusion 3 days ago and I have almost completed my first complete filament spool roller, still figuring out how to cut a slot into the radius but should have this sorted in a day or a month however I will get there LOL. Have fun guys and if you make money while having fun even better. Get out there design new things and print them.

So far Iā€™ve only messed with Meshmixer lol

Been thinking about Fusion360 but time is not on my side

My job gobbles up too much of my time and energy, after family time and taking care of family related things my amount of me time is limited

It seems that getting 4-6 hours of sleep over the past 25 years is starting to catch up with me

Throw in a couple of brutal motorcycle accidents, titanium rods to hold me together and an industry with zero patience and thereā€™s not much time to learn about something I love so much

But the interest far outweighs my tiredness so here I am cramming all this information in my head like a university student that forgot to study for an exam

Hereā€™s a pic of my current office view, only about 10 more jobs to go then I can go home, shower, eat, play with my printers, get a few hours of sleep and do it all over again

Still less exhausting and cheaper than hookers and blow though :man_shrugging:

Strange world I have a small transport refrigeration company, that looks like a very old TK unit. No wonder you enjoy printing. Transport Refrigeration repairs require people with good tinkering skills and who never have time to sleep.

That one is an SB230 SR3

Iā€™m backed up to a Precedent C600 now with an alarm 23

Iā€™m fluent in Carrier, TK, reefers, heaters and gensets so if you have any questions regarding that stuff and I can save you some money feel free to message me

I help hundreds of people over the phone and all it costs them is time

Personally I enjoy helping people as much as possible

Itā€™s great to hear about your positive experience with 3D printing and the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon printer with AMS. Itā€™s true that 3D printing is a journey of learning and improvement, and over time, you can achieve better and more refined prints as you gain experience and knowledge.

Your suggestion of reaching out to someone who already owns a 3D printer and getting hands-on experience with the slicing and printing process is an excellent way to understand the capabilities and potential of 3D printing. It allows you to see how it can be integrated into your woodworking or other areas of interest.

Having the ability to create custom parts or enhancements for your projects through 3D printing can be a valuable asset. It opens up possibilities for customization, prototyping, and even creating functional objects that may not be easily achievable through traditional methods.

Itā€™s great that you are enjoying your Bambu Lab X1 Carbon printer and finding it to be an impressive tool. As with any technology, itā€™s always important to assess your own interest and needs before making a purchase, but it sounds like you have found 3D printing to be a rewarding and worthwhile endeavor.Keep exploring and experimenting with your printer, and donā€™t hesitate to reach out to the community or resources for support and inspiration as you continue your 3D printing journey.

Hi has anyone here taken their printer to asian countries? I want to get one for my brother in India and I am not sure of the specs for the power supply. I guess it supports 100-240V that should work in India, are there anyother things to conisder like a UPS for power outages?

Yes, the power supply is universal. You may need to source a different power cord, but those are easy to find. A UPS is an excellent idea for short-term outages if power is unstable. Note that on 240V power, the bed can draw upwards of 1000W, more than inexpensive UPSes can deliver.
