New to the AMS

Hello, you mention a Y-splitter.
I have a P1S COMBO with ABS. And i also want to print TPU outside the ABS.

a) Which Y-splitter in makerworld should i prefer to print myself?
b) How and where do I attach the Y-splitter?
c) Can I then simply switch to the single coil with the TPU in the bambu handy app? Does the AMS have to be logged off for this?

Simple questions for an experienced user, but not easy to solve for a new bambu user. Thanks for your assistance …

I tried printing the Y splitter but found the BL splitter you buy in the store to cause less issues. Issues are filament doesn’t pass every time or it doesn’t allow filament to unload.
I attached the splitter to the back of the printer and eliminated that connector up from the extruder and outside the printer. So it goes extruder into Y. Didn’t change any tubing. The less joints or sharp turns the better.

I have printed several, but they all have issues. Not immediately - but after a while, they throw the PTFE tube and/or blocks the filament.

Which Bambu Lab splitter do you mean…? Is it this one:
eu.store.bambulab.com/en-dk/products/ams-lite-filament-hub?_pos=3&_sid=a6c9c3062&_ss=r

I’ve noticed that although some people have P- and/or X-series, they use this A-series accessory. I’m very inclined to buy it if it’s less troublesome.

Here’s the link to the US site. It was out of stock for a while. Can’t beat the price.

I just like the ability to easily switch colors and material. I haven’t even used my AMS Lite for multicolor prints. I plan on using it for putting raised lettering of a different color on prints which takes no extra filament. There is nothing I print that would benefit from multi-color.

I love AMS not mainly for multi-color print, but to use the different material for support interface without hassle.

What is this for? I don’t get it. Is it different than the normal hub that you use to put four different filaments from the AMS Lite?

I don’t know how this works on other BL printers but on the P1S combo every time you use the AMS it goes thru that load and purge cycle.
When using the side or back roll the filament is held in the extruder and prints much quicker.
So you load the extended side filament thru that splitter and simply unload it to use the AMS.
For me as long as I’m printing in one color it’s faster, with no chance of a load or unload jam.
