Newer Kdeavi Build plates

The purple Kdeavi build plates were known to be very similar to the BIQU frostbite plates, and a lot of people were very happy with them…

It seems they have developed newer formulations of their coating recently

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005012609582618.html according to Kdeavi they offer even more adhesion, and are compatible with a wider range of materials (notably PA-CF/GF)

anybody have any experience with these newer ones?

I have the green verdant softtouch version for H2C. It gives a very subtle texture, you can still see the extrusion lines but can feel small texture if you run your finger over it.

Adhesion is better than bambu supertack pro. way better than the old frostbite plates.

The correct QR code is printed, so it will detect as a cool plate.

Thank you for the feedback!

may I ask what materials you have printed with it? can you run it cold for filaments like pla?

printed PLA and PETG so far. Will probably try ABS and ASA some time in the future.

Temperatures compared to supertack:
Kdeavi:
PLA - 40 °C
PETG - 60 °C (need to raise to 70 for larger more warp prone parts)

Supertack:
PLA - 45 °C
PETG - 65 °C (also need to raise to 70 for larger parts)

These cold plates are really good for PLA, but are kinda hit and miss for PETG. If you mainly print in PLA, then get one because the electricity savings are quite substantial.

FYI, had ordered one of the green plates for my H2D. Has arrived yesterday and so far I am quite impressed with it.

It has a nice matte texture similar to a Glacier build plate.

Note that the manufacturer lists PLA, PETG, ABS/ASA, and PA (with GF or CF) as compatible filaments.

Great adhesion with PLA (yeah no surprise there) successfully printed a torture test @ 30C. But then again PLA is relatively easy to print with and i could also always get it to stick well to the textured PEI (@55C).

Have not tried PETG, but given PETG usually has great adhesion with pretty much anything i am not concerned.

an ABS warping test was printed without issues (but again I got ABS to work well on the textured PEI sheet)

Then what really surprised me:

generic pure PC (no fibers, no blend): always struggled to print that particular filament. nothing worked. the textured PEI sheet wouldnt stick. glue wouldnt stick, glacier sheet wouldnt stick… nothing worked. even basic temperature towers just failed because of warping… Sticks well @100C almost impossible to remove until the plate is cooled down - Note that PC is not listed by the manufacturer as compatible but i tried it regardless

generic pure PA (no fibers): same as the PC above, nothing worked, liquid glue on the glacier plate did give me some successful results but not many. with the Kdeavi @100C its almost welded to the plate. needs to cool down to be removed… awesome!

TPU definately wont work on this plate, so i wont try it, but TPU always worked well on the textured PEI sheet (with IPA to help release it).

I dont know yet about longevity. But unless this plate fails after a few prints this is my new go-to build plate. I think ill sell the glacier, and might buy a second one of this.

I had ordered a generic sheet of garolite to build a diy a garolite plate. Don’t think that’ll be necessary now.
