Am I blind or this option disappeared completely recently?
Perhaps this will cut down on the low/no effort accounts who start a print, cancel it and then rate 3 stars for the points triggering the owner getting mad, and then has to bug support to remove bogus review. ![]()
This has been discussed at length here with different examples from different countries.
It has gone from some people, but not all, possibly yet.
Submitted a ticket and got this
Dear user,
Thank you for contacting MakerWorld Team.
We would like to tell you that this is a normal phenomenon, the rating task is a limited-time event. Limited-time events vary by country, region, time of year, and other factors, so not all users will see the same event. Other events may appear on your page later.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. If you have any questions or require further guidance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Best regards,
MakerWorld
Lol, I was expecting them to say that.
They cancelled the “event” in the mid of the freaking month. ![]()
If that’s an expected move, you don’t cancel it while it’s running. You just do not renew it at the beginning of the following month (possibly saying something about it, cause that limited-time thing has been there for a while).
They just can’t help themselves with these shady moves…
I just got a different response but the outcome is more or less the same - “sorry not sorry, this is expected, temporary and we won’t tell you how long this situation will last”
Actually they did update the points policy. See the response below from the customer service:

Dear creator,
Thank you for contacting Makerworld.
Following our recent points policy update, there is a limit to the points earned from model rating activities.
At the moment, there is a cap on the number of points you can earn from rating models and printing profiles. You have already reached that limit, so further ratings will not yield additional points. We appreciate your understanding.

And I totally agree with you if the policy changes then it should take effect in next month. It was literally saying like “oh you still got 20/50 point left by rating the print profile “ yesterday then the very next day it’s like “no more points for you”!
Has anyone seen this “policy update”?
This implies a communication on the subject that I have not seen.
I don’t care they start and stop things, but why do they fail each and every time to communicate it to anyone. This always leaves a lot of unanswered questions and head scratching, all of which is unnecessary.
There was always a note that it’s just for a limited time. My guess would be that it ended with the latest update in general.
To be a little negative, why would they communicate when their own terms and conditions say that they do not have to.
You waive any right you may have to receive specific notice of such changes or modifications, and your continued access to or participation in MakerWorld Rewards following any such changes or modifications confirms your acceptance. If you do not agree to these Terms of Use, you must stop accessing and participating in MakerWorld Rewards.
They make it pretty clear, that you need to play by their rules or go away.
They are protecting themselves in their terms. It is just ridiculous that they can not have the common courtesy to inform the community that they have created.
Absolutely, as I said…
It isn’t about offers ending it is, as always, the lack of communication about changes.
Leaving people to guess if it has ended or an error.
Currently, if it has ended, why only for some, where others (me included) still have it?
If they communicated, people would know.
Knowledge is power and means support don’t have to answer the same questions from lists of people, wasting their time and ours.
Imagine knowing you are so bad at something, that it forms a major part of your terms and conditions!
No right-minded person would assume something lasts forever, especially when it states it is time limited, but they would assume the decency of being informed that thing is over.
Scenario one (the one we are living through)
- New thing is added and we gain
- It states temporary
- Years later some don’t have it, some do
- No communication from BL
- Lots of forum chatter
- I imagine lots of social media talk
- Many support tickets
Result, anger at BL, for not explaining, more work for BL, even more reasons to see their consistent failure to communicate.
Scenario two (what should have been)
- New thing is added and we gain
- It states temporary
- They announce the feature is going away in stages
- Many are grateful they got it when they could
- Small number of support tickets from those who didn’t spot the announcement.
Result, disappointment, but gratitude for something we benefited from.
In the first scenario, we forgot what we gained because the bare minimum wasn’t done to be courteous to the community they constantly take for granted.
In one they say something and nothing negative said about them in the other (this one) they say nothing and get called out for failing the basics of communication.
Time after time they ignore this simple solution.
You have to imagine at least half of all the negative things about them people feel would disappear as those are failure to communicate led.
To be honest I thought that “limited” means that it’s 50 points limit per month, each month.
And it’s been a good theory for 3 consecutive months I’ve been a Bambulab member…
While I agree with your statement, this will also give zero incentive to rate anything at all. If they do, its just out of the goodness in their hearts. But yeah, the “sorry I could only rate 3 cause I didnt clean my print bed” ratings are super annoying.
Am I missing something? I just got the points for rating.
Yeah, some have lost it, others haven’t.
I still have it.
I would be ok with that. Give me ratings from engaged owners who care about the community for its own sake, not just from people trying to farm points.
Linking the points system to a monetary award was never going to go well; there are always people looking to exploit systems to get something they haven’t earned.
I completely agree. Although some people might resort to spamming low quality models. (more than they already do)
My problem is with the consistency of it. I don’t mind if it is gone, it has always been their decision to run the point system the way they wanted. But the lack of communication is excusable.
My concern is that people often complain more than compliment.
Ratings work off compliments, in the form of effort.
Poor ratings come from lazy people, compliments take time.
There is a possible Scenario 3: The MW dev team doesn’t have a QA environment. They only have dev and production environments, so the QA is done on the production environment. Since it’s not yet finalized, there is nothing to announce yet.
Catch-all clauses like this are common to provide legal protecdtion. For best business practice, whenever possible, notices of changes are provided. My opinion is that MW is not organized enough to do that consistently.
