I’m trying to print this out but I get trapezoidal surface shapes throughout instead of a smooth shape.
How do I fix?

Pretty sure what you are seeing is the layer thickness, only way I know of to make it better is print with a lower layer thickness, even at .08 you will still see it.

You could try to rotate the piece ever so slightly, so that the bottom surface is no longer flat on the bed [and would print poorly - maybe not a dealbreaker] and that the top is now flat in the XY plane. But those two sides not being parallel is the crux of your problem
You could rotate it 90 degrees along its long axis, but I’m not sure what the entire object looks like, so this might not be plausible.
