Not able to select filament on Bambu Handy

Hey everyone. I have a part that was designed on SolidWorks. It printed perfectly well using PLA, but I wanted to print it in PETG for the strength. On Bambu Handy, I click on the part to print, and once I get to the screen to select my filament, I try to select the PETG that is in slot 4 of my AMS. I get an error that says “incompatible with g code filament”.

On SolidWorks, there was no material specified. Can someone help me out, as to a reason I can print the part perfectly fine from Bambu Handy if I use PLA, but I can not select PETG for this print? Thanks!

It means the gcode was sliced with a pla profile.

No idea how to rectify with handy, but in general you just need to get the obj/step/stl/etc out of solid works, import it in slicer, and reslice with a petg profile.

Filament definitions can be more than just temperatures. So the gcode needs to be regenerated.

Thank you for the reply. That makes sense, as the first time this file was printed, I used PLA as a test run.

The file is currently out of solidworks. I downloaded the STL file and opened it with Bamu Studio initially.

When you say re-slice with a PETG profile, what exactly does that mean? Thanks a bunch.

Same way you would’ve originally got it to the printer - open the exported stl file in bambuslicer, then in the prepare tab, change the filament from pla default to select your petg (if not Bambu branded, try generic petg) and send it. Hopefully your slicers got the printer still saved in it :slight_smile: The send to printer screen should confirm the correct ams slot you want to use.
