Not having the best luck with stickers

I have an H2C and birds-eye camera, if it matters. I’m trying to make stickers of my dog. So I have about 8 of them on a letter size page of sticker paper. I print them on the paper with a color laser directly from BambuSuite. For border I set it to none. I place the sticker paper in the printer and it seems to find the alignment marks OK. (After a bit of trial and error on the exact placement needed.)

The problem is that the cutting alignment seems to be off by up to 3mm. The stickers on the left seem to be cut maybe 3mm too far on the left, the stickers on the right have maybe a 2mm added border on the right. The middle ones have maybe a 1mm border on the top or bottom.

Am I expecting too much for it cut closer, or should I just set the border to wide and be happy with that? Is there any way to calibrate it better?

I think you may have a calibration issue. I created and printed these 2 stickers of my pets i created. There is a border but it’s even and what id expect from a sticker.

Did you print on the correct paper? I accidentally sent it as A4 one time but we use 8.5x11 in the us so it messed up the cut.

Yes, likely a calibration problem. Here is the stickers:

I did initially have the A4 paper size problem, because it seems to default to that, but switched to letter. I have a birds-eye camera installed, not that its using it. I have it set to Generic Sticker Paper just from Amazon. It seems like BambuSuite should have an option to print a calibration page, but don’t see any. I’ll see what Bambu support says.

When you printed it to the laser printer did you make sure the printer didn’t apply scaling such as “fit to page” or similar. It looks like the printed page is to a smaller scale than the cutter is expecting , which is going to happen if the page is scaled differently on the print run vs the cut run.

Thanks. I don’t think I did, but to be honest, my laser printer has so many settings that one may have been wrong. In any case, I did some more stickers and they all came out perfect. I created a preset for my laser printer to prefill all the settings and that seems to be working.

Print then cut used to be quite reliable for me, but a recent firmware or software update seems to have changed that. I haven’t been able to get my printer to cut laminated sticker sheets right for a while now. I’ve tried all the suggested things in the wiki when the calibration cuts fail and no dice.

It feels like the cutter module isn’t getting much attention to making it as reliable and work as well as the 3d printing functionality, which is too bad because the cutter module was one of my favorite parts of the H2C upgrade when it was working, and it’s quickly becoming the most frustrating.

Yeah, it seems nobody even talks about the cutter, plotter, and even the laser. Thats sad because I find the cutter, and sometimes the plotter super helpful. You didn’t mention WHY its not working?

Mine has been working pretty good, but there are some tricks and not that much documentation. First, make sure your blade is sharp, they do wear out pretty quickly. Don’t buy the Bambu blades, they are a bit of a ripoff. You can get them on Amazon and they are the same as all the other cutters use. They come thin, med. and thick. The Bambu ones are “thin” so buy those unless you have a reason not to. Bambu puts a red cap on them, but typically “thin” is yellow.

To clean the sticky plate use Dawn detergent and a soft sponge. Don’t scrub hard. Rinse with lots of water and let them air dry. (The same way you clean textured PEI also.)

So am I understanding correct, you can print on the sticker, you place it in the H2 printer, and it can’t seem to read the calibration marks? OK make sure the page is mounted with the small tiny arrow facing up. Next place the page right on the line that says “Blade" and move it right one square from the left. If that doesn’t work, move it right 1.5 squares from the left. Watch when it starts looking for the calibration points. There is an led that projects on the paper. Is it over the registration mark on the top right? Do you have the birds-eye camera? (its not required.)

A 2–3 mm offset sounds a bit larger than what I’d expect from normal sticker-cutting tolerance. Since the shift seems to vary across the sheet, I’d first check whether the printer is introducing any scaling or alignment inconsistencies before focusing on the cutter itself.

One thing that helped me troubleshoot a similar issue was printing a calibration/test page first. A quick check can reveal subtle scaling, skew, or margin problems that aren’t obvious when looking at sticker artwork. I usually use printtestpages net for this since it has a good selection of printer test pages for checking alignment, color accuracy, and overall print consistency.

A few other things worth verifying:

  • Make sure the document is printing at 100% scale with no “Fit to Page” option enabled.

  • Confirm you’re using the correct paper size (Letter vs A4 can create noticeable offsets).

  • Check that the registration marks are printing cleanly and aren’t being clipped.

  • Try printing a simple alignment test to see if the offset is coming from the printer or the cutter.

If the test page looks perfect but the cuts are still drifting, then cutter calibration is probably the next thing to investigate. But if you’re seeing different offsets across the page, I’d start with print alignment first.

make sure to check first with printtestpages net for checking the printer printing
