So I did my first set of high temp prints yesterday with some eSun PA-CF. Chamber at 60°c and bed at 100°c.
Printing went just fine, but I noticed some strange behavior with the initial homing where it goes to the right side and then to the rear and then repeats again. During the last homing move where it goes to the rear, it bumped the rear a few more times than usual. It was 4 or 5 times, I can’t remember exactly but it was more than the normal 2 times. Usually when the machine redoes or repeats something it’s because it’s not getting a good reading.
Usually it only bumps twice and it’s only doing this on the very last move of the homing. I didn’t notice it doing this with PETG where the chamber and bed temps are lower.
Can anyone confirm if their machine also does this during high temp printing? Is the higher chamber temp effecting something?
Awesome, thanks for verifying. I could swear it didn’t do it for the very first high temp print but then did for the subsequent prints. Which is why I think it’s the heat affecting something. But who knows, maybe the process is different for high chamber temps. It would be cool if one of the Bambu admins of support persons could chime in and let us know if this is normal behavior or not.
I’ve had the same issue, my bed leveling does the same now with the nozzles, on certain probes it’ll bounce twice on others it’ll do it four or five times. I have done a handful of high temperature prints. I have no idea if that’s what started it.
My bed leveling does that as well. Sometimes it’ll probe 3 times, sometimes 5-6 times, sometimes the bed will lower like an inch after probing attemps and then come back up and probe the same spot again. Almost like it wasn’t getting good probe readings and it had to reset. Still getting perfect first layers though, so it seems to be working lol.
When Klipper does bed probing, it usually takes 3 measurements, and if the deviation between those is outside a given bandwidth, it wil do a retry.
When that goes beyond a given limit it will stop.
Some remaining heat soaking of the build plate might cause changes also.
Though the H2D doesn’t run on Klipper, but on a possible fork of that, the multiple probing motions might be having a similar cause.
Someone on the FB suggested that it might be a recovery procedure whenever the steppers detect loss outside it’s compensation range. That said, someone else here was having similar issues printing dual TPU/PETG so it might not be a straight up heat thing.
This makes sense that why some takes multiple probes. That being said. My printer is having major issues right now but first layers are not one of them. The first layers on this thing are really good.
