Ive never had this before and have no idea what happened! would anybody have any clues?!
I went to take a look at my print, and it seems that rather than laying down any filament, the print head has carved away the surface on my super tak plate! No filament was anywhere to be seen!
The previous print had worked fine - I cut the filament, and reloaded it - the filament reloaded fine, and now the next print seems to be behaving as expected.
Very bizarre
was this an error of some kind? Either way - one side of my plate is now ruined
This happens when you calibrate without the printer plate and then put it on the printer afterwards. Was that the case for you? Did you calibrate on the bare heating bed by mistake?
Or another possibility, rare but definitely a possibility: firmware update without recalibration?
hi!. I didnt no, but now you mention it - I did pause the print process (I think just after the vibration compensation) to remove old brims from the plate that id forgotten to remove and then resumed the print again when the plate was clear. But the calibration was done with the plate on
That would be one possibility. It depends on the exact timing. When you press pause, actually nothing bad should happen. That’s one of the reasons why, when something goes wrong right at the beginning, I press stop and not pause - to be on the safe side.
In any case, if there were old prims remaining, the calibration would be based on those - or not, depending on the timing. Now you would have to look closely at when, how, and exactly why it happened.
However, I suspect that the calibration was affected by the presence of remaining on the plate. Next time, it’s better to cancel the print completely if something goes wrong during calibration.
Of course, that shouldn’t happen! No question, but something messed up the printer.
