I noticed that, when printing ASA or ABS the nozzle cam just turns off while printing.
It turns on ever few minutes for a few seconds and then turns off again.
This only happens when printing with high chamber temperature.
Printing PLA or PETG does not cause it to shut down.
that’s pretty smart actually. most high temp materials would not cause nozzle clumps (usually) as they’re much less sticky. under high chamber temperature continuously taking video from the sensor would easily cause overheating, so I actually think it’s pretty smart to work only from time to time.
Yeah, the nozzle cam cant be viewed, its only used for ai detection. But the nozzle cam has a built in light that you can see under the printhead and that is shutting off in my case. So i assume it shuts off the whole nozzle cam

At 0:23 you can see its turning off
At 0:56 it turns on again
At 1:17 off
At 1:45 on
At 2:05 off
At 2:25 on
And it happens a few times more i guess you get what i mean
My fear comes from this only happening while doing high temp prints with 65° chamber temp. So maybe something is overheating?
I let you guys know what Bambu support have to say to this.
Mine does the same, I haven’t checked if it does that only on hi-temp filament though. I just figured it just checks once in a while rather than full time. Was my AI detections set on medium the reason, I don’t know but it doesn’t worry me
I received and answer from support that this is normal behavior.
That’s the answer I got:
since the H2D nozzle camera will be closed if its temperature is over 85 degrees, and it will be re-turned on once the temperature is lower than 83 degrees.
Hence, it will open and close with the high-temperature printing.
So all the ai nozzle cam stuff is effectively disabled for high temp prints? Seems like an area that could use some optimization in the next hardware update. A camera that can handle higher temps reliably.
Yes and no. The constant on and off occurs mostly when the head ist still near the build plate, after around 6-7cm build height the cam didn’t shut off anymore.
But even when its overheating it still switches on for a minute every 2-3 Minutes, so that’s enough time to recognize problems.
