My nozzle hit the prime tower on two consequtive prints on a separate layer approximate 5mm apart. I attached the pic (see attachement) to a support ticket to bambu lab and received the following instructions shown in the picture.
I’ve looked at a number of other posts of users having this same issue but I hadn’t seen this type of response from BL.
I have approx 10 years of printing experience but not a g-code expert. Should I follow these instructions? If so, is this a onetime copy/paste? What does the code actually do? It would have been nice if BL elaborated on this.
Interesting. Thanks for posting it. In one of the threads support answers saying to put in some gcode that the fix is coming in the future. I don’t remember if this was the same code.
I figure they would recommend uping the retraction settings. I had a nozzle that would scrape the print across at the same spot every time. I dialed up the retraction settings and it never happened again.
Because this is highly likely caused by the tower releasing from the build plate and the tilt of the tower is causing it to come up and therefore pushing the nozzle into the top of the tower.
The one in the middle of the tower is very unlikely caused by wrong gcode. Since the prime motions are one gcode line from left to right.
Therefore the other one seems to have the same cause.
The towers are fairly tall, you might want to make it larger at the base by increasing the “extra rib length” so it’s more stable.
Edit: I see you used the extra rib length already.
Still it seems like the adhesion of the tower is not enough.
Thanks all for your input. I did not run the gcode and I believe there has been some updates to the firmware and software since this occurred. I’ve been able to print taller prints without issue as I have widened the base of the prime tower. Hope this helps…John
