Nozzle Offset Calibration Failed (H2C)

Was that the area with the thermal paper, or the eddy current sensor?

I didn’t expect this topic to actually gain traction so I want to circle back to the original cause and effect because people here are reporting issues unrelated to the offset calibration error.

The problem is not wet material: yes, we all know oozing can occur and you should dry your materials. This issue is agnostic to the material type, it can happen with any loaded material.

The problem affects only the left nozzle on the H2C (not caused by a vortek hot end). Right before tapping the calibration sensor with the left nozzle, a wiping operation occurs…but then the nozzle continues to heat up before moving over the calibration sensor. In this time span, there is an opportunity for the material loaded into the left nozzle to dribble. It does not wipe again before attempting to tap the sensor.

The solution I’m asking for is software related. Please do some (if any) of the following to alleviate our pains:

1- Calibrate the left side before the right side on H2Cs. This will at least speed up the error event because right now everyone has to wait 5 min for all the vortek nozzles to calibrate successfully, only for it to fail.

2- Retract/unload the material in the left nozzle so that it doesn’t ooze right before nozzle offset calibration. Even the tiniest dollop of material that causes stringing on the sensor will cause a failure.

3- Add another wipe command right before attempting to tap the sensor with the left nozzle. Wipe the nozzle between failed attempts.

The only fix for getting past the nozzle calibration error that we have found, is to sit out at the printer and use a pair of tweezers to pluck the stringing dollop of filament from the left nozzle head during this calibration step. No matter if nozzle head is clean at the start, you must do this. Any trace of material on the offset sensor that causes stringing will cause an error.

So…can we please get a software/firmware patch, Bambu?

Not sure if this is related and my sensor is dying, but had a similar failure a while back. I had done a larger print on my H2C, about 150 or so mm, nothing huge, but when it went to calibrate for the next plate, it would only raise the bed about 100mm before throwing a failure to home Z axis error. I cleaned the top of the sensor but it kept occurring. I finally got around it by raising the bed to about 20mm below the left nozzle, running a home command, and it passed. I followed it up with a full calibration. Any chance this is sensor related and I should order a replacement? It hasn’t occurred again since, but only has 100 hrs on it since the error.
